One of the best musical biographies I've ever listened to, this book tells the tale of some fascinating characters in fascinating circumstances. It also has a lot to say on how media, the music industry and gender politics changed over that period. I was expecting a handful of anecdotes. I got that plus a whole (hole?) lot more.

I came of age in the early 90s in the UK and loved the alt music scene and culture that Melissa so vividly describes. I first saw Hole play on their POTI tour in 1991 in London & Newport, Wales and watched the London 1995 gig for the LTT tour when Melissa joined the band. This memoir is a beautiful and fascinating temporal insight into that analogue culture & world that I remember at the end of the 20th century : from Melissa's bohemian upbringing in Montreal, to the real human beings behind the iconography of grunge major personalities she encounters through her music career with Hole and Smashing Pumpkins. Listening to Melissa recount the loss of her Dad, Nick, was especially sensitive and poignant for her to share with us. Thank you so much for the music, the art and the creativity.
