When Nina Linden is hired to landscape a private island off the New England coast, she sees it as her chance to rebuild her failing business after being cheated by her unscrupulous ex. She never expects that her new client, software mogul Deacon Whitney, would see more in her than just a talented gardener. Deacon has paid top dollar to the crews he’s hired to renovate the desolate Whitney estate - he had to, because the bumps, thumps, and unexplained sightings of ghostly figures in 19th-century dress are driving workers away faster than he can say “Boo.”

Summary
A hilarious new standalone novella brimming with otherworldly charm from the reigning queen of paranormal romantic comedy Molly Harper!
Ingrid Asher is the newest resident of Mystic Bayou, a tiny town hidden in the swamp where shapeshifters, vampires, witches and dragons live alongside humans.
Ingrid doesn’t ask for much. The solitary tree nymph just wants to live a quiet life running her ice-cream shop in peace. Unfortunately, she can’t seem to shake her new neighbor, Rob Aspern, head of the League’s data science department and so good looking it just isn’t fair.
If there’s one thing Ingrid doesn’t need, it’s someone poking around in her business. But the more she gets to know the hunky mathematician, the more she finds herself letting her guard down. Can she trust him with her secrets, or will her past destroy everything?

Disappointing 3rd book
If you’re debating whether to buy this - it isn’t worth the money. Clearly a token 3rd book to round off the trilogy, but half the length of the other novels, and no plot line that integrates with the other storyline. Laugh out loud funny at times, but ended right in the middle where the other books were just kicking off!

Easy Read
It's not my favourite book from the series but it does give a unique insight into some less popular characters. It was a very short read and not very climactic. It's a good, easy book to listen to while you're busy. I always enjoy the light hearted and humorous writing of this author.

Short & enjoyable
I loved this short little insight into one of the minor characters lives, one of the League staff who we met briefly in book 2. It’s fun. It also introduces a new magi and it keeps the story of the towns main characters flowing nicely.

The fact that a PLASTIC spoon was mentioned put me right off the story. One would think if someone had gone to all the trouble to have a magical artisan product WOULD be eco friendly. That changed the way I thought of the character. I no longer cared.

Funny & loveable characters
I have listened to the whole series so far, I do hope there's more to come, I've gotten to know & love the main characters. They are so funny, they all fit together perfectly and often make me laugh out loud or give a knowing nod to something one of them does, usually Bael or Zed. I would love to read a Mystic Bayou without a romance being the main story, I'm not really into romance stories but these characters kept me coming back time and time again and I honestly believe there's a funny and heart wrenching tale created around the magical group that Molly Harper has created. Lighthearted comedies that can be read individually but is definitely better read in order. 🤓 📖

Underwhelming but at least it was free
Male love interest gets a pat on the back for doing the bare minimum. Nothing happens-there's a whole world set up with a magical enclave in the deep south and the potential for some cool supernatural storytelling and magic-human relations stuff. There is no big event where magic powers come into play, the humans find out, the town needs saved, anything. There's a casual reference to a serial killer that's never explored further or mentioned again. If you had to summarize the story in one line "A tree nymph starts an ice cream business" barely leaves anything out.
Fails as a supernatural story, fails as a romance. The guy violates boundaries, she forgives him. He's painted as an exceptionally good guy for following basic cues and not pursuing women who aren't interested in him. This is nothing special to be celebrated, this is being a halfway decent human being. They then begin a lukewarm relationship with very little chemistry or development at all because she hadn't trusted a man in 70 years and suddenly this rando who's already pissed her off catches her attention. It's baffling at best.

Hilarious and Cute!
Fast paced, giggle inducing and sweet! Even Tree Nymphs Get the Blues was the perfectly little listen to escape reality with. I found myself laughing out loud more than once while I was listening to this as I worked. I mean, really though, who couldn’t love a listen that had you smiling and laughing while doing laundry? In all seriousness this really is an adorable little story.
Ingrid is equal parts wise and naive. With her age comes certain wisdom, but her sheltered life before moving to Mystic Bayou left her ignorant of quite a bit when it comes to social niceties. Extremely blunt and somewhat distrusting she’s quite the hard shell to crack. Particularly for Rob who is drawn to her the moment he lays eyes on her. Rob is a bit shy, slightly awkward and all kinds of nerdy hot. Between misunderstandings and the addition of other hilarious characters you’re sure to get your fill of sweet and funny with this one!
Amanda Ronconi does a fantastic job bringing Ingrid to life. Beautifully done accents and perfectly fitting exactly what I pictured Ingrid sounding like. Jonathan Davis doesn’t fail to deliver either when it comes to accents and making Rob sound adorably swoony.

An absolute gem!!!
Really, I've never read or listened to another Molly Harper book. I thought this one sounded adorable and just could not pass it up! I was right in my adorable assumption. Now I keep thinking I need to go back and listen to the other books in the series. I'm not one who generally listens to stories about paranormal happenings with mythical creatures but this quick little bite tickled my fanciful side. I haven't read or listened to the previous 2 books in the series but that did not take away from my pleasure of listening to this one! I recommend it over and over again!
The narrators were fabulous!! Amanda Ronconi was JUST what I expected for Ingrid. She sounds a bit aloft but as though she doesn't want to be. I'm seriously digging the accent, I just have a thing for these accents! Jonathan Davis is a perfect Rob. He's strong in voice and character but still sounds caring and sweet. They worked well together.
I enjoyed the cleanness of the storyline and the light romance. I almost feel as though it was a story about Ingrid as a nymph than it was about Ingrid and Rob. I think it actually made it more enjoyable for me. Really you can't go wrong with this quick and delightful listen!!

Maybe Should Not Have Been A Free Book
I downloaded this book as one of my free listens for June. It stated it was a free-standing book, but come to find out that many of the characters are from a series. While this had it's cute, funny moments, I was put off by the dual narrators. Women are much better at lowering voices than men are raising theirs. It was good when they were each reading their respective characters, but the crossover of Ingrid to Mr. Davis was not good at all. Might be better if they read it more as a play than a book.
Since the dual narrators are in the first 2 books I don't think I will go back and listen to them.

Mediocre and just a bit incel-ish
I don't think it's deliberate, but there's a lot of weird unhealthy courtshsip tropes here. Things like a man invading a woman's personal space and property, being asked repeatedly to leave, being shown multiple signs that she is deeply uncomfortable with his presence, but he just keeps trying to ask her out, until she literally runs away from him. while on her own property. and he later laments that this treatment was rude.
he accidentally messes with n artifact that could literally kill her at one point. it is a well-intenioned but stupid gesture, and he does it after.expressly being asked not to. when this is talked about later, the following sentence is uttered: "you threatened her very life source. but then she did say some very hurtful and embarassing things to you, so it's a level playing field."
The book doesn't necessarily protray any of this behavior as *good* and I don't think the author (who IS female, btw) meant it to come across the way I interpreted it, but when I listened I couldn't unhear it.
it didn't help that Jonathon Davis sounds like he's reading from a textbook, in a slow, lecture-like drawl; he seems to get more a imated when voicing characters other than the man guy, so maybe he didn't like that character either. Amanda Ronconi, in the other hand, might have been the only reason I kept listening. She has good comedic timing and quality voice work.

Ingrid Asher is the newest resident of Mystic Bayou and the opening scene to this tale was hilarious. Ingrid is a tree nymph. She is socially awkward and untrusting around humans, others and in particular, the League. She’s bought a farm, and a local business where she plans to open a creamery.
Rob Aspern, head of the League’s data science department is also Ingrid’s neighbor. Whenever he is around her he becomes socially inept and quite frankly it was hilarious. Ingrid who is suspicious of everyone made it more so by her reactions.
I loved watching the romance unfold as Harper gave us a mix of adorkable and awkward moments. Of course Jillian and Danica get involved. How could they not!
Talk of mouth watering ice cream flavors had me making a trip to the local ice cream shop. Then they had to go and mention pie. 🥧🍦😍
We learned a little more about Mystic Bayou and the tear/rift as Harper updated us on the town, previous couples, and more.
The conflict could have been resolved with communication but wasn’t dragged out and led to character growth, secrets, and tender moments. All of this added to the swoon and feels.
I love listening to this series on audio. The narrations have been stellar. It captures the snark and personalities of these characters. Amanda Ronconi and Jonathan Davis narrate the dual POV. These two are perfect together. They enhance the humor, oddities and characters.
