Diane Stein’s Essential Reiki has completely blown me away, especially the last two chapters. Her writing feels timeless, deeply intuitive, and far ahead of her era. The way she fearlessly brought Reiki symbols into print was nothing short of revolutionary; it feels like she opened a sacred doorway that had been closed for too long.

What struck me most is how she presents Reiki as a universal life force rather than something confined to one culture or tradition. I’ve always believed that Jesus Christ was a Reiki Master, and to see that reflected in her words felt deeply affirming. It confirmed that Reiki doesn’t “belong” to Japan, or to any one lineage. It belongs to all of us.

The history she shares is profound and eye-opening. It reframes Dr. Usui’s journey as one of rediscovery, not invention, which feels so true on a soul level. Stein’s courage in challenging outdated teachings and her deep respect for the divine essence of Reiki make this book an absolute treasure.

This is more than a manual, it’s a spiritual awakening. I’ll be returning to these pages again and again.

Well written well rounded book on reiki covering everything you’d need to know I’m a reiki master and Diane nailed it !!unfortunately in audible form there is no PDF for hand positions

Great book / bough her second book - plus the hard copy to keep in my reiki studio :) great tips in it and motivating me to do more rieki - slow start but worth sticking with the first few pages :)

This book could have been really good if it didn’t blatantly ignore the fact that men practice Reiki. Everything was aimed at women and referred to anyone as her or she rather than the person or student etc. I find it slightly ironic given Reiki was founded by a man. Sadly I’ve found this throughout the Reiki community with quite a few women who practice Reiki refusing to treat men and I think this book highlights this attitude.
