Sometimes, we need to fully submit to learn to be in control.
If you could sum up Submission in three words, what would they be?
Dark, Master and Slave
How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?
I would have liked to know why she tolerated his treatment of her. Especially in the beginning when he just basically kidnapped her and told her she was now his slave and she just goes along with it?
What about Jennifer Saucedo’s performance did you like?
I've listened to a few books narrated be Jennifer Saucedo and I really enjoyed her work. This was her best work I've heard from her. Great job.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I had issues with the kidnapping and making her his slave without any discussion. That left me confused as a reader and baffled as a woman.
Any additional comments?
With everything going on it left you wanting more to see what would happen next. I didn't want to put it down.

Fast paced short novella. Fun story line. Master/slave relationship that went from 0 to 60 before you can blink an eye. The passion from the relationship is evident, the story rushes to the finish line leaving a cliffhanger. As Veronica got further into the story the pace slowed marginally, but still felt rushed.
Mary Elizabeth simply goes from employee to slave overnight by captivity. I feel a bit of Stockholm Syndrome going on. In the end she falls for her captor and relinquishes her control. I just wonder if it's truly what would follow in a case of captive slave.

Wow this book was hot hot hot!! Some of the main male characters actions were a bit over the top in my opinion, but I still loved this book just the same. I gotta find me a man like that! WHEW!

Let me start off by saying the first few chapters of this book absolutely infuriated me! I don't think I've ever been so angry with a character in my entire life, and that's saying something.
That being said, I still rather enjoyed this book. The characters were well thought out and the story flowed smoothly.
I did get confused over the word Mistress. It kind of sounded like Mister to me, though that might just be because of what I was listening on. I figured it out though, so no worries there.
Veronica Cane wrote an excellent book, and Jennifer Saucedo did a smashing job with the narration!
I received a copy at no charge to me from either the narrator for an unbiased, honest review which I have given. I sure do hope I get the opportunity to listen to the next one, as well!

This is the story of a girl needing a job and doing what she is told when she gets it.There is not enough 'time' given in this story for one to get involved. She seems to go from getting a job as a secretary or something, then bdsm in just a few seconds.I found the narration by Jennifer Saucedo to be weak. It sounded like it was baing read, not narrated.I was given this book free for an honest review.

I thought this book had some fantastic ideas that were a little out there but in all most of the book was very good and believable.
I like the story and the flow. The narrator was easy to understand and listen to.
As I skimmed through the reviews left by others, it feels as though they all have the same reaction that I did. Mary Elizabeth (an office worker under the supervision of Devon) went from office worker to complete BDSM slave in the matter of a few minutes – without the discussion, question or anything. Devon does not ease Mary Elizabeth into it or explain why or how the master/slave lifestyle works.
I don't mind a little bit or a lot of the D/s books that are prevalent today. However, Submission is a bit too extreme for my liking.
Submission is well written, an interesting plot with great character development. Please don't let my review (which *I promised to write in exchange for a free copy of this book) keep you from purchasing this book if hard-core dominance is up your alley.
The narration was very good. Jennifer Saucedo was able to perform the two, very different characters with distinct personalities, without hesitation. She is believable and tells the story without distracting the listener.
Notes: Extreme mature themes, strong language & violence (depending on one's definition)
This would be rated X if in movie terms
I enjoy leaving reviews, as I know that I read them the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about this book, would you please select yes directly below this paragraph? Thank you so much.
Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchased a lot of books by authors that I am faithful to. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators. Thanks!

When I received this book, I did not know what to expect. The description didn't give a whole lot to figure it out, and I figured it was going to be a BDSM book. It was a lot more than that. Mary Elizabeth, coming from a terrible childhood finds herself a respectable job at a law firm. She is drawn to the hottest lawyer, but never acts on her desire. Devlin does act on his desire, and we learn a whole new side of him that is not seen in the office. I was not expecting it...and in the beginning was annoyed at him for being such a controlling freak. As the story progresses though, you do see their relationship grow to be a deep, loving relationship, and by the end, you just want to see what will happen next. I will be looking forward to the next chapter of their story.
Jennifer Saucedo does a great woman's character voice, but I did not like her portrayal of the men's voices. It did not fit the story for me.

I didn't really like this story too much. The narration wasnt very good to me. The heroine sounded like a naive young girl. And the hero, kinda pompous.
