Summary

Erika: His name is Michael Crist. My boyfriend's older brother is like that scary movie that you peek through your hand to watch. He's handsome, strong, and completely terrifying. The star of his college's basketball team and now gone pro, he's more concerned with the dirt on his shoe than me.

Michael: Her name is Erika Fane, but everyone calls her Rika. My brother's girlfriend grew up hanging around my house and is always at our dinner table. She looks down when I enter a room and stills when I am close. I can always feel the fear rolling off of her, and while I haven't had her body, I know that I have her mind. That's all I really want, anyway.

Until my brother leaves for the military, and I find Rika alone at college. In my city. Unprotected. The opportunity is too good to be true. Because you see, three years ago she put a few of my high school friends in prison, and now they're out. We've waited. We've been patient. And now every last one of her nightmares will come true.

A-MAZ-ING!

This deeply twisted, totally enthralling tale is immaculately acted by the two narrators, Tatiana Sokolov and Jeremy York. They capture the tension perfectly and facilitate the time switches which pile up the progression of the story seemlessly. I have been captivated entirely!

fantastic story

Absolutely amazing. Gripping storyline, not to mushy. I just can't wait for penelopy to write another.

Captivating!

This book surprised me. In a good way. I mean, I DON'T read YA. Hardly ever. Too much contrived drama. Too much of a reminder of my kids and the college students I teach each semester, each day. I do enough eye rolling with my classes. A LOT OF EYE ROLLING. So, to read YA? No, thanks.

But this one had an interesting premise, so I decided to proceed cautiously. I was prepared to stop once I got bored. You see, this is my second book by Douglas. The first, Misconduct, was disappointing. It, too, had seemed interesting, but the plot was not engaging and the big reveal at the end fell flat. So, I wasn't sure if this one would be any better.

BUT it was! Oh yes, it was!

It had it all: interesting premise, complex characters, suspense, unpredictable plot, multi-layered themes, and solid secondary characters. It even had constant flashbacks and they weren't annoying. I was kept curious and guessing, wondering WHY.

I thought this showed expert plotting. Quite fascinating, actually. And oh, so erotic! Very. And dark. Very.

The male narrator? *sigh* Jeremy York has a yummy voice. And the female narrator? Must you ask? Tatiana Sokolov? It IS Tatiana! That goes without saying. She is second to none! NONE.

This was an overall superior experience. This is the quality of audiobook that spoils you. It wrecks you so that you can't endure audiobooks that aren't as well executed. It left me searching desperately for a similar listening experience.

So ... Kudos to Ms. Douglas!

Highly recommended!

Needed a warning

I usually don't write reviews but this just needs to be said. I have enjoyed other works by this author even if the characters need to be written as older. High schoolers just do not act this way which makes her books a bit harder to get in to. It's fiction I get that so back to Corrupt. It started out to be the best one yet and still has three stars because the story is really good even if the h forgives the H waaayy to quick after he finds out she's innocent. My problem comes in because, first the H calls the h a slut in a hot moment, then you find out she actually is. If I want to read the h in a girl with girl situation and then a M /F/M situation ( that's right she invites his best to to join them) I want to know ahead of time. Just could never connect with the h in this one. I will pay to read what I want, do not spring that on people. They should be warned.

love Penelope's stories!!

I have enjoyed all of the books so far . I can't wait for the next story to come along. I really enjoy the way each character has a story to unfold and the raw emotion . The relationships are passionate, sexy, hot, loving, aggressive, and complicated. The storylines are always good and interesting. This writer just has a way of pulling you in and wanting more with every chapter. I finished this one in 2 days. Loved it!!! please continue to write Penelope Douglas. I will gladly buy them all. !!

Horrible.....just horrible

Could barely finish this one. This was a badly done psycho meets heathers book. There was not a single character I could relate to or didnt want to die in a firey death. (Spoiler Alert) the main character spent the whole book making excuses for the guys scaring her to the point of tears with threats of violence and rape. And in the end after all the bullshit, the MC gets together with one of them. SMH, sorry not my type of book. I like my MCs to have a backbone.

Not for me!

I'm glad that's over! All of the characters in this book were immature and idiotic to say the least. I didn't see the point of anything they did. Maybe it's because it was about bored rich kids who have to find something to do with their lives in order to feel anything! Maybe that's why I don't get it. Had such high hopes for this one since I love all of the other books by Penelope Douglas. This one was not for me.

No

This is a crazy, screwed up story. The characters are not relatable. Vulgar and not at all romantic. The narrators sucked. The male narrator sounded like he should be narrating true crime stories. The female narrator's voice was so annoying and babyish.

Amazing twist and turns...

Wow, I was in a book slump, and I am hoping this book is the first in a long line of amazing stories. It was different and a little dark, and at the heart of the book was a true love story between Michael and Erica.
I loved all of the twist and turns this story brought with it. I cringed, I was scared, and I smiled. The story wasn't overly angsty but certainly kept you on your toes. It was a perfect ending and I loved the little surprise in the epilogue! The 3 male friends of main character Michael's in this book were each intriguing on their own, and I hope more is to come for each of them. I liked Erica's growth of strength and confidence in this book too.
Tatiana Sokolov and Jeremy York were perfect for these 2 characters and both gave outstanding performances. I have listened to both of these narrators before and have enjoyed their narration, but this was a particularly great performance by both narrators.

Good but... Really... it got cheesy there ...

This was a great book... kept my interest but it got real cheesy b-movie rating there for a minute... Of course no one ever talk about what really happen in the past... let's just assume then try to kill everyone... so stupid... Honestly this was a great book... I just got pissed at all the misunderstandings... I heard this is similar to BULLY, so I won't be reading/listening to that book either if its like this... Although I like the book...

See I hate books that leave me conflicted with myself... I like the book, but I hate every single plot point in it... urgh!!!

Good sale book... maybe not a credit or buy... Narration was the best... Sokolov and York were both great...although I hate dual narration like this... If you are going to have two narrators, why not have the female read the female parts and the male read the male parts...
