Summary

Follow Noel, a captured rebel of the human Resistance, as he endures his punishment at the hands of his supernatural enemies, the vampires. See where his fate lies. Highly erotic and extremely dark and twisted. Prepare yourself.

I've been betrayed by someone I trusted. Because of him, I was captured by my loathed enemy: the vampires. Right now the sun is still high in the sky, but I know when it sets, I'm as good as dead. They can't wait to get their fangs into me.

I guess some would say I have it coming. I did raise a lot of hell with my Resistance crew, and I was planning on raising a hell of a lot more at dawn before I was sold out by Jonah. The vampires, werewolves, and dragons have been trying to track me down for months, and I'd always been two steps ahead of them.

I guess my number is up. I just hope they make it quick. You see, the vampires in my reality aren't the romantic lot you read about in books. They don't sparkle or hang out at high schools with their teenage girlfriends. Hell no. Vampires are brutal, calculating, sadistic, and bloodthirsty. As a matter of fact, all of the monsters are! That's how they were able to take over the world so easily and change an entire civilization to suit their needs. Whatever happens, I know it's not going to be pretty, so I'm preparing myself for the worst. May God help me.

Warning: This novel contains hardcore sexual situations between men, not meant for sensitive eyes. I'm talking crude, lewd, and full of attitude. This series will most likely either offend you or get ya revved up. There will be no punches being pulled whatsoever, so you've been warned. Mature adult content meant for listeners looking for something dark, taboo, sexy, and unapologetic in their paranormal erotica. This is not a romance.

Liked to hear the beginning of the new haven serie

Love the books and stories, again matt Williams was the first narrator I heard depict this world so I sort of associate the characters with his voice. This is obviously not him and although I enjoyed the listen it just wasn't the same. Some characters voices made me laugh in a good way but others missed the mark for me. The narrator had to do several voices and I could tell who was who. In some instances I felt the author was a little robotic sounding sometimes but overall though not my favourite it was nice to bring the beginning of the new haven series to life.

Conflicted but in a good way

When I first read Nicholas’ Bella blurb about the books they write, my attention was caught on them wanting to write a book that doesn’t exist out there. Well. They certainly created something unique.

I was ready to put this book down on couple of occasions, mainly because the main villain Theoden was portrayed a bit like the typical “oily moustached macho man in a long leather coat” type but I kept going until the end and in some twisted way really enjoyed it. It had moments of bravery that we don’t see in modern stories. And for good reasons. But still, I admire the author for going there. Because in real life, stuff we don’t want to talk about still happens and so this book sort of went there directly instead of just insinuating something to stay on the safe side.

There wasn’t much story (it has a potential to have so much more story!) and there wasn’t much plot so if you need that, this book is probably not for you. I kind of liked how the whole focus was on the characters though and what they can or can’t endure. And when I say endure, I mean it - the author is not joking. This book is not for the faint hearted. Study the trigger warnings before proceeding.

Overall, I enjoyed this book. The audio performance was fantastic, it probably made it for me. I really liked how Arthur Byrd impersonated the characters, and the steamy scenes sounded very genuine. I bet it’s not an easy job to do to make it so believable.

I look forward to listening to the next one.
