It's a parent's worst fear — you turn your back for a moment and suddenly your child is missing. In this case the fear turns to a most shocking nightmare. Then, the whole country reacted with shock and anger - with angry mobs attacking police vans.

shocking

Still as shocking as when it first happened. Told in a sensitive but still informed way.

JAMES BULGER is his name.

His name is spelt wrong and also said wrong in the beginning, then was called by his actual name a few minutes in. I thought it was pretty sad to see and hear and wouldn’t of thought it from Amazon. I’m actually pretty shocked by it.
The story on the other hand explains what it can in 25 minutes of the awful murder of James. It’s a truly heartbreaking story. My heart goes out to James family, even more so after hearing a part of this audio I didn’t know. Very sickening and extremely sad!

Brief summary lacking depth

Only a brief summary of the actual crime. No real depth to it. It was interesting but also chilling hearing some of the police interviews but probably better suited to a documentary than a half-hour audio segment.

The murder of James Bulger is still an emotive subject and well-remembered to this day in the UK due to the horrible nature of the crime. Joanna Simpson does a good job emphasising this but just wanted more in terms of the background. This could have been a brilliant listen without time constraints,

More shocked than when it happened

Ep4: I remember the news reels
At this time my son was 14 months old and I thought it was barbaric. Now having heard that child voice stating "I killed Jamie Bulger" was horrifying. Even more was what they did to his body, I was aware of what they had done with batteries but not that his body was severed by a freight train.
This was a prime opportunity to bring back capital punishment, one of them might be living quietly but the other does not. Its our tax money that is protecting them!

why is it so hard to get his name right.

if the author had done the most basic research, he would have learned how upsetting it is for the family to hear his name incorrectly used. he was called James. if you are going to sensationalise a story for profit, put a bit of effort in. disrespectful.
