Another subject I had no idea I was interested in

Really informative with an easy going narration. While Warner Bros is a familiar name, learning about the history is very engaging.

Marvellous

A fascinating insight into the lives of Warner Brothers and the stars of their films. These shows offer a detailed insight into the Golden Age of Hollywood with a genuine love for the subjects which shines through but doesn’t flinch from the darker side of fame. The amount of research that must have gone into each episode is terrifying but the result is a show that will have any movie lover spellbound.

Bear in mind that this was originally a podcast so it doesn’t follow the linear format of a novel, think of it as a radio series with each of the broadcasts following threads which gradually weave together episode by episode and you won’t be disappointed

Truly wonderful listen.

If you have a passion for the past and love hearing about the Golden age and the very beginnings of Hollywood and some of its greatest stars this is definitely a great series for you.
Glued to every episode. Laughed, cried and even got furious at some of the main players. Very well performed loved way in which everything and everyone was brought to life. I will definitely listen again.

Delighted by this series.

I have recommended this super series to my friends, I have dipped in and out of these chapters and having just finished, reflected on how great the entire journey was. If you are a Cagney fan and are interested in the Golden Age of Hollywood this is for you and if you are not, you soon will be. Bought the Cagney collection a week ago to re-visit films I haven't seen for decades. The tragic nature of the actors and executive lives, is one of the most surprising themes of the and the ability to overcome adversity makes this an inspiring story. You won't be disappointed!

Couldn't get out my car.

I joined Audible to entertain me during the hours and hours I spend in the car.
This complete series did not disappoint. Absolutely gripping story of Warner Bros and James Cagney.
I literally sat in the car after I'd stopped at my destination, just to hear the next revelation unfold.

Adam's delivery felt a little strange for the first couple of episodes but I soon got over that and was glued.

A Brilliant History of a Warner Bros Studios

Starting in a small impoverished Polish village and ending at a lush Hollywood memorial ceremony this superb series of podcasts tells the story of Warner Brothers Studios. Alongside the story of the rise of the studio we have the biography of Jimmy Cagney and a few smaller stars. This series has it all, double dealing, thwarted love affairs, illegitimate and abandoned children, hostile take overs, tragic heroes. Jack Warner is surely the role model for every ambitious and ruthless film producer ever put on film. His life story would make a superb film in its own right I really can't express how enjoyable these 30 podcasts are.

Adam Roche's research, production and delivery are all superb. I'm really developing an obsession with his work. They balance the technical/production side of film making with anecdotes about the stars and the time periods that the films were shot. The addition of the Secret History of Hollywood podcasts to Audible was an inspired decision. I've downloaded and listened to them all.

Honestly just give them a go. Perfect company for cooking a meal, taking a walk or a commute.
