Summary

[Contains explicit content]

Dom sets off on his tour around the US of A, with his trusty sidekick (and complete stranger) Fiona. After the first evening consisting primarily of 'ass juice', a visit to 'Hangover Heaven' is a necessity. Followed by a drive-thru wedding complete with a wigged up 'Emergency Elvis'. Not wigs! Dom has a thing about wigs.

Anyway, what if the bride and groom are related? Surely you can't get married if you already have a wife?! So many questions....

super annoying voiceover spoils it!

I love Dom Jolly and really wanted to like this podcast. However, for some reason they chose a really terrible grating voice as the voiceover - it completely contrasts with the wit and humor of Dom. Unfortunately I only listened to one as a result.

Very funny

Loved this and wish it had been longer or even better had been on TV. Fionna and Dom were very good company and the whole premise was great. I'll listen again.

Only downside (aside from being shorter than I'd like as I loved it so much) was that at times I couldn't make or what the other people were saying.

Recommended. Some swearing so it's not family friendly.

It might be free, but don't bother

These new shows from Audible seemed like a bargain, but sadly I haven't come across one that is compelling and interesting.

I'd rather pay for a book and get good quality and interesting content : or listen to the BBC app

Just bad

I've enjoyed the previous Dom Joly travel books but this is a horribly produced piece of work. Dom is known for a dry sense of humour, often under-played - this production has been slapped together with possibly the least suitable narrator choice I've come across, an American lady who is insanely cheerful and manages to kill any atmosphere the audiobook might have otherwise. She makes jokes, but they're not funny... She explains what Dom is up to, but that's completely unnecessary. Why is she there?! The production comes across like a quick edit radio show and doesn't suit Dom Joly's style in the slightest.

Dom is amusing as ever and it's worth checking out if you can get over the format. I really struggled.

I'm not sure I ever found the point

Perhaps if you like Dom then you'll get more out of this. I kept with it until the last two chapters, but I'm not sure why now, it didn't grab me and although I'm very reluctant to give up on a book (or audio book) I just wasn't that interested.

It's a snapshot of the strangeness of the US, sometimes it's funny, sometimes Dom is laughing at himself, other times it just falls flat.

It felt more like Dom convinced Amazon to fund his trip around the US and this was the product. Nice work if you can get it, but I'd spend your time on something else.
