Fantastic adventure!

I really enjoyed this. I felt invested in the characters and warmed to their faults and their strengths. I enjoyed the theme of adventure, challenges to gender roles and living life on your own terms. The actors/narrators were all excellent and I recommend listening to this fabulous story.

Spellbinding

I would recommend this book to women who are in search of heroines who are fearless, brave and loyal. It had me wanting to listen to the next chapter every night. It was more a play than a book. There is a whole host of actors throughout the book, this was something that surprised and delighted me. A very enjoyable listen, highly recommended.
There are a couple of things that I would like to be different, they are the book stopped after each episode, so I had to choose the next, which is frustrating as I listen at night when I cannot sleep. As I could listen to 3 episodes in one night. This review is for all 14 episodes. This is a general suggestion about all audible books, that is to include along with the synopsis that maybe identify that the book is read by a host of actors as a play or episodes. I would definitely choose the play, episodes option. Nevertheless it was a lovely surprise to listen to a really engaging and well acted book. I’m looking forward to choosing my next.

Do yourself a favour, you won’t be able to put it down.

Perfect balance of laughter and tears.

I felt totally immersed in the world and could visualise every moment. And without the use of a narrator or blatant exposition used to fill the gaps.

Brilliantly drawn complex characters full of light and dark. Beautifully written and the performances were excellent.

Each chapter is satisfying while keeping the background narrative flowing and the final chapters are heartbreaking and satisfying in equal measure.

Really enjoyable romp

A fabulous dramatisation of this story. I don’t know how much is true, but it was so much fun didn’t care! The story was brilliantly brought life, particularly by the two leads. They certainly didn’t shy away from showing how much more liberal the pirates in every way were over so called respectable society. Highly recommended, but not suitable for children and younger teens.

Wonderful listen

Brilliant production of a throughly great story. The characters are engaging, the villains are believable, and the action scenes as exciting as any film. I have listened to an episode a day doing indoor cycling and it made it almost enjoyable! I will definitely start listening to the whole series again as I loved it that much. Well done to the cast and production crew, fabulous!
