Spooky serial, interested to see where this goes.
Sour Hall has good production values and a strong cast. Pearl Mackie is engaging and it's good to have a rural setting with modern characters. Pretty mysterious and spooky, worth a listen.

Gripping thriller, very well performed and produced.
Love the characterisation, setting and story so far. Sound effects make it very atmospheric - I’m looking forward to each daily instalment!!

Clearly marmite
Just finished the first episode and I'm glad to say I enjoyed it. the immersion created by the sound effects hits far deeper than any jump scare ridden Hollywood horror movie.
This show clearly divides opinion because there's so few 3 star reviews almost all 4-5 or 1-2. Which means it can't be mediocre and it's actually making me look forward to the next episode. Many of the listeners would be wise to remember you can't please all of the people all of the time and content creators are wrong to try.

Has the makings of something special
After listening to the first episode, this is obviously a production of high quality, but for me, one things lets it down, and its yet again using something great as a vehicle for ramming down our throats, woke messages. Within the first 5 minutes we had this Male, white, homophobic, misogynist, probably racist northern farmer, who in the end was just giving this poor girl a lift to the farmhouse,
Why?.
Cant people just tell a great story these days without all this, not so cloaked, political messaging, what is after all, meant to be a horror story. Hope it doesn't carry on like that, or it will soon get boring. I want to be entertained, not preached to, and forced to check my white privilege.

Interesting, unpredictable story
I selected this because I wanted a shorter listen than the bigger 8-10h audiobooks I'd recently been listening to and wanted something spooky/horror, but not mainstream.
The audio quality of the production and the voicecast is very good and the characters really show their range of emotions throughout the series. It avoids the stilted, 'reading from a script' sound that many of the smaller productions get. My only complaint is some of the sound effects are a little 'vague'. A noise, or series of noises that I didnt recognise as banging gates, or wind driven rain, that didn't become clear until the characters started talking and said where they were.
As the disclaimer at the beginning of each episode announces, there are some adult themes here, and ones that some may find disturbing, but they were handled in a mature fashion in line with the story, and not just thrown in for shock factor.
The story line is cohesive and easily followed and I was pleasently surprised by some of the events, as this could easily have followed a standard formula approach, but made some good and interesting deviations from what I initially expected.
In summery, I enjoyed the story and the voicecast that performed it. It was interesting, engaging and I have recommended it
to others.
Definately best listened to with earphones in....

Brilliant...an experience and engrossing.
Really enjoyed this story. Great atmosphere. I have been an advocate to the epic unabridged audiobook for years now but the production of this has turned my head. Now i'm knee deep in full cast audio stories!

Fab xx
I dont normally listen to short productions like this but I'm really glad I did.
I'm on episode 4 and loving it.
the performances are spot on, each character is believable and relatable, add in the sound effects and the story really draws you in.
My only issue is, I could listen to it for hours.
Well done to all involved. A great series with an unusual story line, played superbly xx
