Summary
Ross encourages us to harness the power of aliases. We learn about Frances Pessoa, a writer with 75 pseudonyms, and we found an imaginary band and populate their world.
The Exercise:
- Imagine a fictional band and pick a name for them
- Give your band a desirable quality you admire but don’t have
- Sketch out a brief profile of the band referring to their desirable quality
- Name your fictional band’s first single and first EP or album
- Come up with the track titles for the songs on your imaginary band’s first album
- Take one of the song titles and write the lyrics to that song
- The end result is a brand new piece of writing you can use to spark new ideas

Flawed by annoying background soundtrack
The instructional content is good and the method of delivery engaging but, BUT, the background soundtrack is (a) intrusively loud and (b) annoying pings and twangs reminiscent of an Atari video game! I was disappointed to have to give-up on this series for no other reason than enduring that background noise would have turned me into someone from "The Shining"!

Accessible
The content is completely accessible, you don’t need to be a ‘writer’. The host is engaging, I’m keen to try out the exercise (so keen I’m about to start)... the only reason for it not being five stars is the sound effects. Way too loud, very irritating. Worth a listen despite this. Well worth a listen in fact.

Not adequate in recorded volume. But good content.
Recording did not have enough volume-too quiet even at full volume.
Content good and inspirational

My ears!!!
The background music and sound effects totally ruined this. They were way too loud, I had trouble understanding what he said half the time. Super irritating. Made it halfway through the first episode before I gave up.

Irritant
Could not maintain concentration with the incessant synthesiser noise. And would help if the narrator could pronounce the words wri’ing and crea’ive properly given the subject matter.

Why the distracting music and bleeps
Sorry the annoying sound track can not listen as I tend to listen to books at 1.25 to 1.5 speed it is really distracting even at 1.0 it is a terrible idea

I - “beep, beep, beep” - don’t like the sound effects
I can’t listen to this as it is jarring and annoying because of the background sound effects. Shame as it sounds interesting. Seems unfair on the author to mark down as it isn’t the words or narration but the grating sound effects.

Sounded promising
Was really looking forward to this podcast but the insanely annoying background noise made it impossible for me to carry on. Hope that can be changed so it can be enjoyed at a later point.

Enjoyable listen
I really enjoyed listening to this podcast whilst walking to work. I did not do any of the writing exercises, but I thoroughly enjoyed listening to every episode.

what a pity
Music was intrusive and off-putting. Couldn't listen beyond first few minutes. Daft idea to drown the words in that way.
