Summary

President Jack Spiers and former Secret Service agent Ethan Reichenbach throw caution to the wind, committing themselves publicly as the first out male lovers and partners to occupy the White House. Jack moves Ethan into the Residence, but as Ethan settles into his new role as first gentleman of the United States, not everyone is thrilled with their choices. When it seems like the world turns against them, Jack and Ethan must turn to each other, finding the strength together to press on.

In the chaos, Jack's relationship with Russian President Sergey Puchkov grows closer, and the two nations find themselves working almost as allies. But President Puchkov has secrets of his own, secrets that could rip everything apart. And Ethan steps back into the action with Lieutenant Adam Cooper, taking charge of a covert kill team tasked with hunting down General Madigan once and for all.

But Madigan is elusive, and his dangerous reach is long. He strikes at Jack and Ethan from the shadowy corners of the globe, unraveling their entire world. As the mad general draws new allies together, he is single-minded in his quest to destroy the only two men who ever beat him.

Whatever next !!!!

This amazing, thrilling story continues from the end of book 1.
It's relentless, the action never ending, and boy, that narration makes the story even more exciting.
You cannot help but be swept away.

Great story, mediocre narration...

First to admit that John Solo is not one of my favourite narrators, although I loved his interpretation of Will and Patrick in the series Will & Patrick Wake Up Married. He really irritates the hell out of me sometimes with the silly intonations he uses during recording, so to discover he was narrating this series was a shock; however, I have to admit that overall I was pleasantly surprised by this audio. His inclination to go overboard with his intonations was relatively subdued, and the only real niggles I had were with his Russian accent [pretty awful], his pronunciation of some Russian words such as Mos-cow [heavy emphasis on the cow 😏] and the fact that the ARCTIC [The Arctic is a polar region located at the northernmost part of Earth] has somehow become 'Artic' in his narration. It's not just an one-off deal either; his narration on Enemy Within is exactly the same, so this is me putting up and shutting up 🤐, and coming to terms with the fact that he [and the entire Tantor production team] aren't aware that the word is ARCTIC [heavy emphasis on the middle C 😉].

Amazing book

Great follow up to the first book in the series. I thought I might lose interest as their relationship was already established, and I usually enjoy books for the delicious relationship build up - but that wasn’t an issue at all. Brilliant relationship plot, exciting action plot and pace, and love the side characters too. I’m relieved to see the next book in the series has already been released as this one leads directly into that.

Awesome!

This book is fabulous! Tal Bauer's books are wonderfully exciting and well written. Put together with John Solo's performance- WOW! John Solo makes the characters in this book come alive with his narration. If I could give more than 5 stars I would. Great job!!

5 stars all the way

This series of books is one of my all time favorites and I really didn’t think they could get any better. But I was wrong. John Solo not only hit all the high parts with perfection, he brought out new reactions and feelings to a story that I’ve read multiple times.

I highly recommend these books, and this narrator.

Action and adventure!

Military, political conspiracies with a touch of sci-fi, and some romance, did I say romance?
Engaging, involving and great world building. I can't wait for the next book!

One of the best!

I could not stop listening! This is the book where the heroes are broken, and the enemy mostly prevails and it was gut wrenching! The romance and intrigue and action just had me from start to finish. Mr Solo does an excellent job with the different characters. Cannot wait to get into the next installment.

Action packed and wonderful!

Much better than the first book. With so many twists and turns you are immersed in this imaginary world where gays run the world. If only... Super book if you like foreign intrigue and international plot lines. Such a nice change from the average m/m romance!

Excellent continuation

Would I listen to it again: yes
Did the story keep me engaged: yes
Was I invested in the characters: yes

📖 Story comment: excellent world building, great characters, action, adventure, intrigue, bullets, bullets and more bullets !

This is a great continuation of the series, Tal Bauer has woven an intricate adventure of epic proportions and I look forward to diving into book 3. At 18 hours there is no lack of detail in world building and plot, but the story in no way drags, the pace is steady and has a good flow ... there were many nights when "just one more chapter" turned into three or four because I just didn't want to put it down!.

🎧 John Solo's narration continues to be on the mark, his characters are consistently voiced across the books in the series, his rhythm and changes in pitch and intonation all work in bringing the story to life and I was completely immersed in the adventure.

Wrong Category

While the pretext is a Thriller/Mystery/Suspense this series is far from that. If your looking for a Mitch rapp or the Greyman type of series this is also not it. I have nothing against LBTQ elements in a book, but this is way too much for a book categorized as Thriller/Mystery/Suspense. If this was in the Romance/gay porn section then I could see it. At least 75% of the first book was a gay porn romance novel using a backdrop of 25% trying to be a thriller.

I finished the first book hoping all of that was just to setup the rest of the series to show really how deeply in love they were and now the thriller will start. Well I made it, 2 or 3 hours into book 2 and it is more of the same.

Had this been in a different section of the store and I wanted to buy a romance novel with a thriller element then this would be an excellent choice However, I was looking for the next thriller series and this is definitely NOT it.

John Solo does an outstanding job on the narration

OMG

How much can one man take. One President handle. The chaos has been never ending since Jack became President. He been a single widow for such a long time that doesn’t know when he being to friendly or how his friends is being read by anyone else but man when he figures it out he on it full boar. Over all I have enjoyed this series. I of course want the next book because I need to know what happens. The Russian Sergey and what he discovers about himself. Does Scott make it back to his family? Does Cooper figures out who his mole is. OMG. So much stress and clinch teeth.
