Summary

Do you possess everything that is required to be successful in all spheres of life from interpersonal relationships to work to social life? Do you believe that IQ or Intelligence Quotient is the only form of intelligence that matters in today’s world?

Today’s socially frenzied world needs more than just academic knowledge, technical skills, and classroom learning for accomplishing real success. This form of intelligence, though relevant, will seldom teach you about building gratifying interpersonal relationships, a rewarding career, and a fulfilling social life. Though IQ can help your prospects of getting a job, it does not guarantee you will be a happier, inspired, and well-adjusted person at work. It does not guarantee you will be able to be a powerful and inspiring leader or kick-ass negotiator, adept problem-solver or a persuasive salesperson. Sorry to burst this bubble, but the real key to success in relationships, work and life are not taught in the closed confines of a classroom.

Despite boasting of a high Intelligence Quotient, there is every chance you may still struggle in your personal, professional, and social relationships due to the lack of trying to identify and process your and other people’s emotions. In today’s age, a high emotional quotient is one of the most important determinants of success.

Did you know that emotional intelligence makes up for 90 percent of what distinguishes high performers from the average ones?

The good news is that emotional intelligence is not an inborn trait that is mostly determined by genetics, unlike intelligence quotient. It is a form of intelligence that can be gained over some time through consistent effort, discipline, and practice. Anyone wanting to improve their emotional quotient and willing to give it a decent shot can build their EI muscle over some time.

In this audiobook, you will learn everything from developing greater self-awareness to strategies for regulating your emotions to learning how to identify and cope with other people’s emotions to enjoy more rewarding relationships and lower conflict causing situations. Here is a sneak peek of what will take away from the audiobook:

  • Proven strategies for growing self-awareness
  • Mastering the art of regulating your emotions for optimal good in any situation (this is different from holding back your emotions)
  • Robust strategies for identifying and dealing with other people’s emotions to enjoy more harmonious and fulfilling relationships
  • Tried and tested techniques for building higher emotional intelligence

Gain control of your and other people’s emotions for enjoying a more rewarding fulfilling personal, professional, and social life.

Marvelous book and marvelous assessment.

I decided to purchase this book because various aspects of my studies in college bring up the Emotional Intelligence issue from time to time. It is a fairly good book. The author provides detailed exercises with how to deal with having more insight into your emotional being and ways to work on them.

Excellent advice!

Excellent advice in this book. This should be required reading for all managers all the way to CEOs. Everyone can do better with learning how to use their emotions to their advantage rather than emotions controlling them. Also great advice on working with others and understanding other people.

Emotional Intelligence.

I really like this book. I think this should be required listening in schools. This book will help you understand others and yourself. Also, give you an opportunity to improve your own skills.
I've been telling everyone about this book. Also, told my sister to get this for my niece because again I think this should be required and it should help my niece out since she is a teen. It will give an understanding of others and herself.

Spot on!

The authors presented a very compelling case supported by facts. I enjoyed the vignettes of the good/bad emotions people experienced. I started to implement the strategies as I listen the book and began to see areas I needed to improve, and areas of strength. I highly recommend this book!

Start becoming a better person.

This book is a great starting point if you want to be a better employee, leader, friend, and romantic partner. You may be amazed how low your score is in the beginning, but the online program that comes with it offers great support on your journey to be a better person. It’s not going to be the sole thing that gets you there. You’ll still need to find other resources if you want to keep growing. But this book makes it easier to set a baseline so you’ll be able to measure your growth.

Not A Guide To EQ development

Highly opinionated whilst giving a synopsis of better works. Perhaps a good introduction to EQ, but by no means is this book an enlightenment to raising one’s EQ.

capable book.

I like the style of providing tools to deal with certain situations. I believe in those tools that they provide because they work. easy-to-understand vocabulary, I really like it, I think most of the things you say are consistent with real life.

Excellent book on the softer skills that many of us technical people haven't developed. The book introduces you to these skills, explains why they are useful and provides instruction on how to develop them.

Entertaining..

I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in individual human development. It can be considered a self-help book, sure, but it is very entertaining and not very bossy if you know what I mean.

Learning approach.

I haven’t gotten too far through the book but I am enjoying it. The physiology does get a little tedious at times, but I think it’s worth it to get the whole picture. The author suggests skipping it if the listener wants to get to the crux of the subject matter.

Best book.

Emotional Intelligence Practical Guide is very essential to book for me. This is a good reference to have around when I find myself less than excited about life and the people I share it with.
