Regurgitation, sent it back

I had hoped the 2nd volume would contain some fresh insight, once I got past, what sounded like a repeat of the 1st volumes Introduction, but I found nothing new, I am quite capable of reading the originals, so I returned it before I wasted more of my timr

Very inspiring listen

This book is very inspiring and informative. It presents information that is extremely relevant to today's workplace. Great book about how to be more emotionally intelligent and how true success is more predicated on being emotionally intelligent than just being intelligent. How emotional intelligence leads to more personal growth and true lasting successes in life.

Found very useful

The coverage on the aspects of emotional intelligence is quite rich and easy to listen. I have introduced all of my kids and favored friends to the book and the concepts it contains. I really liked this book and would recommend anyone who needs such type of information.

Full of great advice

Excellent advice in this book. This should be required reading for all managers all the way to CEOs. Everyone can do better with learning how to use their emotions to their advantage rather than emotions controlling them. Also great advice on working with others and understanding other people.

Very effective listen

I really liked it.Once you listen it you are going to refer it again and again to make improvements. I am going to refer to strategies at least multiple times to incorporate them in my day to day behavior. Author followed a very simple and uncomplicated yet very effective and powerful approach to improve the EQ.

Poorly Edited, Repetitive, and kind of creepy

As other reviewers noted, there are strange edits where a different voice cuts in to add two or three words in the midst of a sentence. Every few chapters the author includes passages from other books -- often the same passage that has been included in an earlier chapter. Finally (if you can make it past all of these muddled bits) the author proceeds to teach one how to manipulate others after giving a step by step guide about how to avoid being manipulated.

I rarely review books. This one is so bad that I felt I had to warn others.

narrator was hard to listen to

struggled. information was good, but narrator who was dry and monotone. also sounded like she had a slight speech impediment. how one gets a narrating job when it sounds like she is talking with pudding in her mouth is beyond me.

disappointment

Don't buy this book. If you are looking for info on any on the subjects really try and focus on one of each and explore it with different author. Maybe i was looking for something more deeply explained, but every chapter was a disappointment. Its also shameful for author to copy full paragraphs and whole ideas from one place in the book to another. I don't buy a book to read the same things in few different places, just because it suits the author not to write it differently, not to explain it in different words ("i would copy a part about ... ") Also 8 times to listen full chapter about author - who she is and why should you listen, just with few different words at the beginning and end (connected with chapters) is just not bearable! It is not a marketing campaign for the author, its a book!
I usually dont write reviews as everybody has different taste. I just had to do it now, because i really do not remember when i was so dissipated with a book about such a interesting topics!

Pretense of knowledge

Information couched in such a formulaic way that it wasn’t enjoyable even at 1.5X speed. Like many non fiction books that are overstuffed with floss there are utterly a few paragraphs that are just informative. Better to read the source material.

Well organized!

A audio book that encourages the idea and tested reality that intelligence is more than meets the eye. I felt valued as a person listening this audio book. It validated what I knew about myself but didn't have the words until now.

Pleased with this audible

Though the whole book as high, I much enjoyed the section on optimism. How optimistic you are about life has a huge impact. Your sense of confidence is more predictive of your success than your intelligence. Giving someone optimism is crucial.

Worthy listen

Haven’t gotten too far through the book but am enjoying it. The physiology does get a little tedious at times, but I think it’s worth it to get the whole audible. I want to prefer that for all. Thanks!
