easy listen and the excercises well explained

I really like the easy listen and the exercises well explained. I don't see books like this very often that explain step by step how to put on practice all the concepts.

Listen regularly

Those who have low levels of emotional intelligence are likely to be quite negative and lacking in self-confidence, but this can all be changed with hard work - hence our techniques.

More an academic than self help book

Extremely detailed book, felt like I was in a classroom environment. Far too much detail to be an effective self help book. There was also an element of spelling out the bloody obvious. Not an easy book to listen to unless you are already extremely knowledgable in the areas being discussed. Sounded like somebody’s university thesis being read out, dreadful engagement with core subject matter.

It's amazing

I highly recommend listening this book. It will help you understand yourself and everyone around you, and why you and they behave the way you/they do. It's amazing and explains not only the scientific background, information about the brain, but then, how that translates into thinking and behaviors. Emotional Intelligence truly is the most important and it is what creates a safe, happy relationship, family, home-life, community, workplace etc., versus the opposite! This is important for you, your family/children, co-workers/bosses, etc. Everyone should listen this book!

A lot of scientifically based

I honestly thought on this book I was going to find a lot of scientifically based advice on how to behave in situations where my emotions go out of control but found myself reading a book that though informative did not meet my expectations in terms of utility for my personal life. I do consider though it is a good foundational book to start building on my emotional literacy.

Already achieved part of its stated goal

Emotional Intelligence has already achieved part of its stated goal, in that the concept has become an accepted and assumed part of our cultural view. For those of us, like myself, who are slow to read this work and get on the bandwagon, the audio book is a decent enough start, but the abridgment just feels like it cut too much. Still a good introductory work, especially for the average commuter.

I definately recommend this book.

I'm definately a negative person. I knew I had to change that, so I bought a couple of books to help me with this (not a fan of psychologist in the flesh), anyways. The book is self-explanatory. It gives you insight on how you brain functions and a great deal of tips to encounter your better self when solving problems, discussing with people, appealing to your good side always. True many parts of the book was to technical, but that's because when you don't know why something works like that, the author tries to teach the listener how that works. I definately recommend this book.

Excellent book on the softer skills

Excellent book on the softer skills that many of us technical people haven't developed. The book introduces you to these skills, explains why they are useful and provides instruction on how to develop them. This book is a must for the average technician or professional that wants to progress up the ladder of success or learn how to connect with people better.

Real justification

I absolutely loved this book because, before this book, there was real justification on why people would have to consider feelings or emotions in the workforce or even in everyday relationships with various people. In my youth, I had been taught - much like other people, to 'keep your emotions in check'. To me, there has never been a book before this one to guide us on how to handle emotions maturely and therefore, constructively and progressively for the benefit every type of relationship. Therefore, I believe this book is a must-read no matter what your take or level of emotional intelligence is

Interesting listen

Interesting listen. I found this book very engaging and easy to read through. Keep in mind this is a science based book that presents information and concepts. This is not a self help book. Good for those who want to learn more about how the brain works as it relates to emotions. A very insightful look into how our emotions, and our ability to monitor and control them, can determine the quality of our lives.

Go off the rails

When you understand it is so much easier to cope with (these) emotions. And also means you can to help the other people around you with there emotional issues. In addition, it helps to understand why people 'go off the rails' and how to help that not to happen
