Summary

In the ultra-modern city of Olympus, there's always a price to pay. Psyche Dimitriou knew she'd have to face Aphrodite's jealous rage eventually, but she never expected her literal heart to be at stake...or for Aphrodite's gorgeous son to be the one ordered to strike the killing blow.

Eros has no problem shedding blood. Raised to be his mother's knife in the dark, he's been conditioned to accept that he's more monster than man. But when it comes time to take out his latest target...he can't do it. Confused by his reaction to Psyche's unexpected kindness, he does the only thing he can think of to keep her safe: He binds her to him, body and soul.

Psyche didn't expect to find herself married to the glittering city's most dangerous killer, but something about Eros awakens a fire inside her she's never felt before. As lines blur and loyalties shift, Psyche realizes Eros might take her heart after all...and she's not sure she can survive the loss.

Performances don’t mesh

While I really enjoy the story I can’t get over these performances. The male performer sounds pretentious and so much older than he should be and both performers do each others voices. I don’t understand why they don’t do their own roles in each chapter? Had to DNF. Disappointing.

Fantastic

I absolutely loved this book. A great follow on to the amazing Hades and Persephone story in Neon Gods (which is even hotter than this one!).

Whilst Hades had a dark reputation, Eros is actually a bad guy but still has redeeming features.

Great LGBTQ representation, which is a must have given the Greek gods setting. I wasn't familiar with the original Greek story but this series prompted me to do some reading up and I think it's a great modern retelling with some nice references to the original.

Alright for easy listening

This is alright for easy listening, a few spicy scenes and a little suspense. Voices are decent enough, although I never can get away with a man attempting a soft woman’s voice…

Loved the book, not a fan of performance

Pros: loved the chemistry , the plot, the tropes. Psyche was just a brilliant character. She's so loveable

cons: think the performers could've been better. Why can't audios be a duet, not a fan of male voicing female and vice versa. And we British don't sounds like that.

Fabulous story, mismatched performances

The story is fantastic, interesting, empowering and spicy. In my opinion, the Dark Olympus books just keep getting better as they go. However the artists narrating the books don’t fit their roles. The male voice in particular sounds incredibly pretentious, and almost like he’s doing a caricature.

Loved this book so much

I finished Electric Idol and started right back at the beginning, because I enjoyed the book so much. The readers are excellent and the story extremely gripping. I particularly enjoyed the female lead, as she didn’t fit into the “perfect heroine” mould and yet filled it brilliantly. I actually found her very relatable, which I didn’t see coming from a book in my smut library.

The world of Dark Olympus is still as fantastic as ever. The world building in the first book really drew me in and this instalment just adds to that.

Would really recommend this to anyone who enjoys steamy romance!
