As per my headline a hard book to review, it started so slow I nearly gave up, the narrator was real slow too which helped in the end as I found the story to be complicated with lots of people, countries and languages. I like the main characters both male and female and the bad guy turned out to be cool to. So I think in all I enjoyed it but it was a marathon to get through.

Great story and classic Sanderson. But, the narrator is not for me, he sounds like a gameshow host. Maybe the narrator needs to find the most important words a man can say.

Would you listen to Elantris again? Why?

No, I would not. Not unless a new version was released with a better narrator.

How could the performance have been better?

A different narrator. He doesn't pronounce anything properly at all. The way he pronounces the "i" sound is annoying. "Merciful Domi" is an often used phrase and the narrator pronounces this as "doh-my" instead of "doh-mi". Plenty of other examples of poor narration but the above is said throughout the book and pops up nearly every chapter.

The Elantris story is great. The narrator is not.

I am a massive fan of the cosmere books. I've have worked through all of the mistborn and storm light archive books, as well as the short stories. This is my favourite book in the cosmere so far.
