Summary

On the first day, a mist descended from the heavens blanketing earth.

On the second day, a cryptic message, “Infusion commencing,” appeared in the corner of everyone’s eyes.

On the third day, the sick were healed and the crippled walked again.

On the fourth day, celebration and joy spread across the globe.

And on the fifth day, the warping began....

There was no warning. A mist descended from the sky, disabling all technology and causing a weird message to appear at the corner of everyone’s eye. The situation grew even worse as animals and people started to warp, transforming into terrible monsters that prey on the living. Within months, human civilization had crumbled.

Unable to fight the seemingly indestructible beasts, the survivors are reduced to cowering in reinforced shelters. Waiting for the end to come. Helpless. All seemed lost until a few brave souls discovered the secret of their new reality: the Tec and how to use it to level up.

Together they represent humanity’s last best hope for salvation. But they first must find the answers to the mystery of their new existence. Their journey will require them to quickly adapt to alien technology, operate strange spaceships, and even befriend an extraterrestrial merchant with an inferiority complex.

Not as good as life reset

I like the author, especially the Life Reset Neo series. I did not care for this narrator, and the story was not very gripping, I found myself losing my attention on the book often.

Not worth the credit

So I listen to alot of litrpg books and like how they're setup. I have listened to some bad ones and this is not worth the credit. The MC being unwilling to kill other humans, then the group having some people who want to save everyone, but being afraid to fight. This makes no sense, they're also unwilling to do what it takes to fight and level up as they figure it out. This is just madness to me. I don't think it's worth the credit. You also have one of the MC who negotiates likes a drug user looking for another fix, who negotiates with the only merchant as the only customer and gets a deal where they have a daily interest rate and that same MC complaint so much. I will save you all the trouble, this team needs to be killed off. They also have childish attitudes and blame the black guy for things going wrong. This was such a disappointment and a waste of time.

Where is book 2?

I enjoyed this book. It reminded me of Skyward and even more so of Swarm.

Things move along too easily

I gave this a listen after enjoying Life Reset. The premise is interesting, and I did like the character development. And the action worked well and there seemed to be plenty of discovery, which I always love, like I experienced in Life Reset. The main problem that I had was that such incredible things happened with so little build up. Something happens to the world, which results in them being to gain these abilities that let them do things they have otherwise no idea how to do, including flying alien spaceships to the moon n' stuff. It's explained as well as The Force from Star Wars is explained... this mysterious thing just does stuff to everyone in the galaxy.

The author I think is aware of this problem, as he even has a character call it out, asking others if they're all taking everything way too easily. They suggest something along the lines of humans being adaptable at their core, and in this apocalyptic scenario, they inevitably rise to the occasion.

It seems like the author could have broken this book up into maybe 3 books at least. I would have loved to have started earlier, and gotten to know the characters before the apocalypse, then see how they react. At the end of the first book, they shouldn't have gotten anywhere near how far along they actually managed.

Not his best...

Bought the book after listening too Life Reset.
Honestly, the idea itself do seem fun but the book itself just comes out mediocre.
Kuznits can and have written alot better then this.
