Institutes of the Christian Religion is John Calvin's seminal work on Protestant systematic theology. Highly influential in the Western world and still widely read by theological students today, it was published in Latin in 1536 and in his native French in 1541. The book serves as an introductory textbook on the Protestant faith for those with some previous knowledge of theology and covers a broad range of theological topics from the doctrines of church and sacraments to justification by faith alone and Christian liberty.

Story
For 300 years, The Pilgrim's Progress has remained perhaps the best-loved and most read of devotional fictions. In plain yet powerful and moving language, Bunyan tells the story of Christian's struggle to attain salvation and the Gates of Heaven. He must pass through the Slough of Despond, ward off the temptations of Vanity Fair, and fight the monstrous Apollyon. In Part II, his wife and children follow the same path, helped and protected by Great-heart, until for them, too, "the trumpets sound on the other side."

The modern apologetics classic that started it all is now completely revised and updated - because the truth of the Bible doesn't change, but its critics do. With the original Evidence That Demands a Verdict, best-selling author Josh McDowell gave Christian audiences the answers they needed to defend their faith against the harshest critics and skeptics. Now, with his son Sean McDowell, Josh McDowell has updated and expanded this classic resource for a new generation. This is a book that invites listeners to bring their doubts.

Great book to summarise all the reasons to believe in our wonderful God
- By Kelly on 23-06-19
Summary
The result is a fresh and compelling Bible translation, with a timeless quality, that's trustworthy and true. That's why the ESV "sounds like" the Bible - with the kind of beauty, clarity, and dignity that we love to hear and read. That's also why the ESV retains the Bible's rich imagery and theological words - words like grace and justification and salvation - that are essential to our faith.
The result is a Bible that conveys the timeless quality of God's Word and that remains trustworthy and true to the original words breathed out by God. As Moses wrote more than 3,000 years ago, the words of God are "your very life, and by this word you shall live." (Deuteronomy 32:47).

Easy Listening
This is a very clear and easy to follow audio bible, that is available among many others at present.
The Narrators voice does seem a little monotone, but at least there is not any intrusive background music constantly playing.
Navigation requires a little patience in finding where you want to start from, but then this is no different to many other audio bibles.
I selected this because it is an ESV Version and for it's easy to follow style, so all in all a very good Audio Book enjoy!

Bit confused....
Whilst I like the idea of listening to the bible as a seamless book, the fact that there are no chapter headings makes it extremely difficult to know where about's in the bible you are reading. Also you can't select to listen to Luke's Gospel for example as they are just numerical chapter headings. I find this quite irritating. Having said that I am enjoying listening to The bible as a whole text.

Just the Word
If you're looking to do without the music and drama that some of the other versions put out on Scripture, this is your book. There is nothing but the reading of the word, and Mr. Heath does a adequate job at it.
His inflections when he reads the words spoken by prominent biblical figure (e.g., God, Moses, Abraham) or a less prominent figure (e.g., the disgruntled Jews in the wilderness, enemies of the Jews) is a bit strained, but it could've been worse. Still, I knocked off a star because I could see where it may annoy some folks. I was only slightly put off at first, but got over it.
The main reason I dropped a star was because of the breakup of the Bible into 15 files. Each section starts at the beginning of one of the Books of the Bible, but within each section there's no rhyme or reason when you skip ahead. Sometimes it's at the beginning of the next chapter, other times it's not.
So best you can do is re-label the 15 sections with the first and last Book/Chapter.
Here's the naming convention I used for all 15 sections on my iPod for your consideration:
01. ESV Genesis 1 - Exodus 40
02. ESV Leviticus 1 - Numbers 36
03. ESV Deuteronomy 1 - Ruth 4
04. ESV 1 Samuel 1 - 1 Kings 22

All that being said, this a fine rendition of the Word of God. Frankly, I got tired of all the flashy productions and just wanted to hear the Word. In my opinion, you can't go wrong with this translation if you're looking for that angle. So I definitely recommend it.

Great Story, Pleasant Narration, Bad ChapterBreaks
Any additional comments?
This is the best book ever written and the ESV is a great translation! David Heath's reading was simple and pleasant. The 15 sections instead of a chapter break for each book is VERY IRRITATING.

No way to quickly navigate!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
If there were Section and Chapter headings with Biblical references to let you know where in the Bible each section covers.
What does David Heath bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Great, listenable voice, very articulate.
If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from ESV Hear the Word Audio Bible?
NONE! This is the Word of God.
Any additional comments?
I bought this audible version of the Bible, but it's near useless if you want to dial in to a specific section. Total confusion.

Bad formatting!
I am disappointed with the formatting; it is essential in any audio Bible to have clear, searchable formatting so that you can search for books and chapters. This is only broken up into 12 massive chunks. Fix this please!

A good choice for an AudioBible
A beautiful, literary translation that works very well for being read aloud. Also, the narrator has a pleasant voice that gives appropriate weight to the words. I recommend it highly.

Thanks to whoever divvied up the files into books
First, I never knew how much I'd love using an audio Bible. This has made soaking up God's word so much more accessible throughout my day.
That being said, I agree with the common disbelief among commenters that the file parsing is so bad. I listen via my iPod shuffle, so everything is found with scanning. It's brutal. :-) A big thanks to the folks who've shared the breakdowns here. And I agree that 66 files would be so much better.
The reading does feel a bit robotic at times and I laughed out loud when I read the comments about the strained sound on quotes. It's so true, though I hadn't though about it much after the first day or so. I guess one person's "emphasis" is another's "strain." Also, the change in tone/pitch/etc on the quotes really does help you separate them out in your mind.
It's quite a feat to read the entire 66 books of the Bible with a consistent tone and gate, so Mr. Heath has my respect for this momentous task, and I appreciate his efforts.

Navigation is awful!!
As many have already said, the audiobook is broken into 15 parts, each part consisting of many chapters. Apparently Audible recently updated it, because now, instead of 15 book with chapters numbered 1-x in each book, the chapter numbers are successive from one book to the next, so that there are a total of 1194 chapters in the 15 parts. This is even worse than it was before! I have updated a popular breakdown of the books and chapters of the Bible originally made by "Aaron" for assistance in navigating. Unfortunately, a number of the books of the Bible were separated into different parts of the Audible book. Hopefully Audible will eventually fix this. Apart from the awful navigation, I think this is a very good reading of the Bible. It is neither over- nor under-dramatized. The narrator has good diction and just enough character voice to distinguish when God or a person is supposed to be speaking. And I really like this version of the Bible. To me, it seems to read like a cross between the NASB and the NIV. Book (Part #) Chapter #'s Note: If the book is not fully contained in one part, I have listed the chapter numbers after the book name OLD TESTAMENT PART 1: Genesis (Part 1) 1 - 51 Exodus (1) 52 - 91 PART 2: Leviticus (2) 92 - 118 Numbers (2) 119 - 154 PART 3: Deuteronomy (3) 155 - 188 Joshua (3) 189 - 212 Judges (3) 213 - 233 Ruth (3) 234 - 237 PART 4: 1 Samuel (4) 238 - 268 2 Samuel (4) 269 - 292 1 Kings (4) 293 - 314 PART 5: 2 Kings (5) 315 - 339 1 Chronicles (5) 340 - 368 2 Chronicles (5) 369 - 404 PART 6: Ezra (6) 405 - 414 Nehemiah (6) 415 - 427 Esther (6) 428 - 437 Job (6) 438 - 479 PART 7: Psalms 1 - Psalm 99 (7) 480 - 578 PART 8: Psalms 100 - 150 (8) 579 - 629 Proverbs (8) 630 - 661 Ecclesiastes (8) 662 - 673 Song of Solomon 1 (9) 674 PART 9: Song of Solomon 2-8 (9) 675 - 681 Isaiah (9) 682 - 747 Jeremiah 1 (9) 748 PART 10: Jeremiah 2-52 (10) 749 - 799 Lamentations (10) 800 - 805 PART 11: Ezekiel (11) 806 - 853 Daniel (11) 854 - 865 Hosea (11) 866 - 879 Joel (11) 880 - 882 Amos (11) 883 - 891 Obadiah (11) 892 PART 12: 893 Jonah (12) 893 - 896 Micah (12) 897 - 903 Nahum (12) 904 - 906 Habakkuk (12) 907 - 909 Zephaniah (12) 910 - 912 Haggai (12) 913 - 914 Zechariah (12) 915 - 928 Malachi (12) 929 - 933 NEW TESTAMENT Matthew (12) 934 - 961 Mark 1-15 (12) 962 - 976 PART 13: Mark 16 (13) 977 Luke (13) 978 - 1001 John (13) 1002 - 1023 Acts (13) 1024 - 1051 Romans 1-14 (13) 1052 - 1065 PART 14: Romans 15-16 (14) 1066 - 1067 1 Corinthians (14) 1068 - 1083 2 Corinthians (14) 1084 - 1096 Galatians (14) 1097 - 1102 Ephesians (14) 1103 - 1108 Philippians (14) 1109 - 1112 Colossians (14) 1113 - 1116 1 Thessalonians (14) 1117 - 1121 2 Thessalonians (14) 1122 - 1124 1 Timothy (14) 1125 - 1130 2 Timothy (14) 1131 - 1134 Titus (14) 1135 - 1137 Philemon (14) 1138 Hebrews (14) 1139 - 1151 James 1-3 (14) 1152 - 1154 PART 15: James 4-5 (15) 1155 - 1156 1 Peter (15) 1157 - 1161 2 Peter (15) 1162 - 1164 1 John (15) 1165 - 1169 2 John (15) 1170 3 John (15) 1171 Jude (15) 1172 Revelation (15) 1173 - 1194

Best Audio Bible available on Audible :)
In my opinion, this is the best audio Bible on this site. I used my 1 credit from my trial membership for this book...it is the only Bible I found without distracting background music, and I love that it is ESV! ESV is one of the main translations I regularly read and consult because of its accuracy with the original languages of the Bible. The files are rather large, but I just changed their names on my iTunes to show which books of the Bible are in each one. I hope this audiobook is a blessing to all of you like it is to me! Don't miss your chance to learn the Word of God, which comes from the mind of God, whatever Bible you choose to read.
