A gripping Sequel

while it is true that the subsequent dune books never live up to to the first. This second volume in th story of Paul and his allies is a good read, even if the perspective jumps around a bit to much at the begining and there are some structural issues the story is good. The narration was equally good, although changes in voices where sudden and rather uncalled for.

The prose is too pretensious too often. Good plot

The story is compelling and there are some great concepts. The try hard profundity got on my nerves though.

it's ok

It's a ok extension of the original novel, but didn't feel important enough. I wasn't sure why they needing different narrators in this one either.

Gripping

Thoroughly enjoyed the narration. The story flowed and had some enjoyable characters that allowed for a couple of plot twists to keep us guessing as to their loyalty.

A solid sequel.

What made the experience of listening to Dune Messiah the most enjoyable?

The narrator keeps the story interesting throughout giving characters credible tones and emotions.

What was one of the most memorable moments of Dune Messiah?

The ending of the story is unexpected and memorable. It does not follow the typical path that stories of a powerful lead character often does. Muad'Dib does not always triumph.

Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favourite?

There is no doubt that Paul as Muad'Dib grips the listener but a small character the uncanny dwarf Bijaz steals the few scenes he enters before meeting his untimely demise.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It is impossible to remain aloof when reading the book. I identified with both sides in the plot's struggle but always there is the fascination with the machinations of Muad'Dib. Will Paul succeed and where do his powers of perception truly end.
