Summary

Award-winning actor and best-selling author John Lithgow wields a whip-smart, satirical pen in this poetic diatribe chronicling the last few abysmal years in politics. With lacerating wit, he takes listeners verse by verse through the history of Donald Trump's presidency, lampooning the likes of Betsy DeVos, Anthony Scaramucci, Scott Pruitt, Paul Manafort, Trump's doctors, and many others.

Illustrated with Lithgow's never-before-seen line drawings, the poems collected in Dumpty draw inspiration from A. A. Milne, Lewis Carroll, Edward Lear, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Mother Goose, and many more. A YUGE feat of laugh-out-loud lyrical storytelling, this hilarious and timely volume is bound to bring joy to poetry lovers, political junkies, and Lithgow fans.

Funny, irreverent and ingenious

A collection of amusing verses about absurdity of Trump’s reign in the White House, narrated by the author and accompanied by his illustrations. Apart from the expected limericks there are clever pastiches and appropriate music and surprising sound effects plus brief explanations of the subject matter, for anyone who hasn’t been paying attention or is confused by the rollercoaster events of this presidency.
Although it’s a short book, it’s well worth a credit.
I don’t know if the USA has a Poet Laureate, but if it does, the writer will have to wait for Trump’s departure to be honoured!

Very well versed!

Fun way to be reminded of our very recent history. Hearing the book read by the author was a wonderful treat. I also enjoyed the addition of the background sounds.

Excellent Satire

Funny book. I appreciate that John Lithgow was willing to read his work as I feel like he was the only person got to do it.

Hilariously funny

John Lithgow is very funny, even when dealing with a serious subject like the Presidency. I'd recommend it as a way to unwind.

Brilliant Can't wait for the Sequel!

I have never really appreciated poetry or ever binge-read it, until now,.

These hilariously satirical verses, brilliantly performed by the author and cleverly accessorized with music and sound effects, bring this Presidency into perspective with a clarity that none of the pros I've read on the subject have.

These verses characterize what a "Dog and Pony Show" this Presidency really is! They will enrage the right and delight the left, though I have to wonder how even those of the right could fail to see what's happening, after reading these verses. But, of course, they would have read them first and, sadly, they will not.

My only hope is that these verses will entice, and inspire, the Democratic base to get involved. .

Best political satire I've heard in awhile(besides Steven Colbert).

Hilarious

The rhymes are well written and really funny. One thing I find is great is that John Lithgow not only wrote the book, but he also narrates and puts his twist while reading the book. Awesome job.
