About this listen

From New York Times best-selling author Penelope Ward comes a new, sexy stand-alone novel.

It seemed like a good idea at the time. Look up Landon Roderick, that boy from childhood whom I'd never been able to forget - even though he so easily forgot about me - and call him.

Then again, anything sounds like a good idea when you've had a little too much wine before bed, right? It was supposed to be just a quick, meaningless prank call. Instead I went off on him - unloading 13 years of pent-up emotions.

I didn't think he'd call me back.

I certainly could never have anticipated the weeks of sexually tense phone conversations that followed as I got to know the man he'd become.

Turned out Landon had never really forgotten me, either. That special connection we had was still there. I opened up to him, but there were also things about me he didn't know. And he had his own secrets.

Over the countless hours we talked on the phone, I wondered what would happen if we actually saw each other. One night I did something impulsive again. Only this time I went to the airport and booked a ticket to California. We were about to find out if one phone call could bring two lost souls together or if my drunk dial really was all just a big mistake.

A complete stand-alone.

I absolutely loved this story, it had my emotions all over the place. Some very funny parts but also some extremely sad and hard parts. I listened to this in one day as I just couldn't bare to stop it. Very well written and as usual performed amazingly by Andi Arndt, I would definitely recommend this

What a lovely, standalone, ‘sort of’ second chance romance, I say sort of, because Landon and Rana were only ever friends before they were ripped from each other's lives. 13 years later and after a few too many drinks one night Rana looks up Landon’s number and rings him, herein begins a beautiful long distance telephone relationship. Both Landon and Rana have secrets that they know must be shared before they can think about a serious relationship together, the question is, are they willing to accept each others’ pasts and move forward together? The writing is perfect, I cannot fault a single page, Landon is pretty much the quintessential bad boy turned good, so so good. The chemistry is off the charts hot, phone sex never read this good. With some unexpected little twists, lots of funny moments and some real heart wrenching scenes this book had it all. Romance at its finest. So glad I didn't let this one pass me by.
As usual Andi Arndt nailed it, I don't know a female narrator who pulls off a man's voice better, she is so so good with any character given to her. Perfect.
