Not a natural sci fi reader but I like light military stories. This series is read by a great narrator and I found the books easy to listen to and engaging enough to want to know what would happen next. If you are unsure, I recommend that you give them a go!

I’ve got to say I wasn’t sure initially and I felt the author might not have the skills to keep me engaged over a long series. How wrong I was!

Excellent characters- well drawn, funny, genuine and clearly well thought through.
Story- pace & planning work so well in how the series reveals new aspects. Doesn’t feel over-played
And finally- performance! Just spot on- accents and characterisation handled perfectly.

I’m through book 7 and I can’t see another bundle ahead so I guess the real test is whether I will pay for individual books…I’m sure I will!

It manages to sprinkle expository information throughout in a surprisingly organic way, to the point of world building even 8 books into the series

I really like it

The character deaths are also dealt with in a brutal way which truly speaks to the harshness of the soldier psyche.
It’s all very impressive.
I await the next collection with bated breath

Easy to finish and a good narrator brings the characters to life. Worth a listen for a credit. Now just got to wait for the next books to be released on audio..
