The story line was OK, if predictable. I’ve read other Portia Mackintosh books and listened to other performances by Karen Cass and enjoyed them, but this one I found irritating due to the accents. The Geordie one was poor and the Manchester one, though more of a generic Northern twang I found difficult to listen to, as it belonged to the principal character, there was no respite from it. It was so annoying I very nearly returned it. Not one of her best. If you get it for free, go ahead and give it a go, but I feel like I’ve wasted a credit on this one.
