A life to save. A journey to begin. A war to win.
At 19, our hero is caring for her sickly mother when a stranger appears with a shocking truth: Skyla Draken was born in a realm where magic rules, and mythical creatures roam. This land is now the key to curing her mother.
And so, Skyla must return to her homeland, but once there, she discovers a hostile world of warring kingdoms, and she meets with evil forces that would see her noble family dead. Things get worse when, during her journey, she has visions of a man and learns a secret that changes everything.
These events spark a race against time, but with the lives of so many that she loves at risk, can she find a way to stop the tides of darkness from sweeping away all that is good?

Major Narrator Problems
loved this book when I started reading it then I switched to audio and it ruined it. how did this GUY get the job of reading this book? Awful, screeching voices for the women and he made all of the men characters sound like they were 50 or 60 year old men....I had to go back to the Kindle version. This narrator is just so bad!

narrator a little off
After reading the Kingdom of Exiles, I decided I should give this book a chance. TKOE is still one of my favorite audio books I have had the chance of listening to. I felt like this book had a good story line, but I don't feel that the narrator was the best choice for this book. Given that the two main characters were female, he made them sound shreaky and whiny more than I would have imagined them to be. I wish the narrator that was used in TKOE was also used in this book. It would have made the story more pleasant to listen to. Overall I enjoyed the book, I just wish I had read the story instead of listening to it.

narration turned me off
horrible narration. I cannot get into it. Why have a man read a book trying to imitate a teenage girls voice. Really annoying and I couldn't continue on with the book

Narrator ummm..
The narrator was very talented but who at Audible thought that a ‘he’ was right for a ‘she’ book? His men’s voices were too rough and unappealing and his women’s voices made it difficult to imagine that the characters didn’t look like professional wrestlers.

Very interesting
I loved this book-I listened to A Kingdom of Exiles first; that was when I found out that at some point the two stories would be linked. I can’t wait to see what the author does next! I highly recommend this book for fans of fantasy stories!

beware of the narrator.
The story is interesting and the author said she will link it with another so I finished it. the narrator is a Male for a primarily female lead. He does not do the female voice well as a result the males in the story had exaggerated low voices which made it difficult to imagine them any younger than 60. I really struggled because of that. I will have to get the book and read myself to enjoy the story further.

Just couldn't listen a second longer.
This very well could be the best book ever written; however, I won't know until I buy the physical copy. I do not like giving bad reviews. Actually, I'm pretty easy to please. However, the narrator completely ruined this book for me. When he voiced the women, it just sounds like he's mocking them. Honestly bummed because I was so excited to listen to this book as I had been FULLY submerged into the wonderful world that the author had created. S.B Nova, if you're reading these, I am BEGGING you to bless us with the next Outcast book. 🙏

I hate when a man narrates a woman’s story
I think I really would’ve liked this book, but the narration ruined it for me. I cannot stand listening to a man try to portray a woman, especially when the portrayal is a squeaky annoying voice. I honestly could not finish I was so irritated by it. If a woman had narrated the story I think I would’ve liked it.

Horrible narrator! 😖😖😖
I LOVED Kingdom of Exiles. I’m sure I’d love this one, too, but... where is the wonderful narrator from the first book?? This guy... all the female characters have exactly the same grating childish voice done in an unbearable falsetto 😩😩😩 it’s like nails on a chalk board. It’s so distracting I couldn’t even pick up the story line! SB Nova writes such wonderful complex, vivid, majestic characters. This guy sounds like he’s reading to kindergartners about kindergartners. Ugh!!! I’m going to return this, buy the book, and have my daughter read it to me, before this awful rendition and these ridiculous voices are burned into my brain and I can’t I hear them. Ack!
