Summary

Rules for living: Lay low. Kick butt. Hide my magic.

People think I'm normal. They're wrong. I'm demon touched - filled with dark, deadly magic. Hiding my power is the only way to survive. Problem is, I'm about to start my first term at the best Academy of Magic in the world. So hiding is going to be a problem.

When demons attack, the Academy calls on the lethally sexy gladiator Maximus. As the best tracker, I'm forced to work with Maximus to defend our kind. But his mage powers are strong, and he senses there's something wrong with my magic. He's powerful as hell, and he wants me. Despite his allure, I can't let him know the truth of what I am.

My real mission? Kill the demons before they reveal my secret. As for Maximus? It'll take all my skills to keep my distance, especially since he looks like a god. Because if he learns exactly what I am, I'll never survive the Academy, much less tomorrow.

This boxed set contains all five books in the Dragon's Gift: The Amazon series. They're fast-paced urban fantasy romances starring a kick butt heroine, a powerful hero, and otherworldly adventure.

Terrible performance

The story itself was ok at best but the narration was terrible. Her voice was not bad, it was pleasant, but the cadence she read with made it almost impossible to listen to. She read everything the same so you never knew if it was the beginning, middle or end of a sentence. You also never knew if it was an exclamation, question or statement with the cadence.

The last book in this series is the best.

The last book in this series is the best. I can get emotionally involved with the characters in a good book just like any body else. I've even been known to get so mad at a character that I threw the book across room. The series itself was a really good series, it stayed with the same theme, as the other previous dragons gift series with Cass, Dix, Nix. even bringing them back in to the sister's, Rowan, Ana and Bree's stories. The challenge in creating a world with multiple characters , each having a story to tell, is to keep consistency without being repetitive, a daunting task. I absolutely love the idea and I'm going to experience the entire world she has created. As for this last book, I enjoyed it the best of the Amazon series. I actually had to wipe my eyes because my eyes were leaking. I can't wait to read the blood sorceress's story! Her story was introduced in an earlier book as she talked about escaping from the place she and her sister grew up. I'm actually buying it as soon as I finish this review.

Book is good, narration is…

The way she makes her voice sound like a question at the end of every sentence is very irritating. I’ve only made it through 2 chapters so far, but don’t think I will make it much farther like this.

Needs new narration

Unfortunately, the way this is narrated is distracting. She relies on a repetitive cadence whether it makes sense in terms of meaning to the sentence.
It’s not as bad during the dialogue.
The stilted monotonous narration makes it hard to follow the storyline as time is needed for comprehension.

I can't get past the narrator

This narrator reads each line as a complaint or sneer. I find my attitude deteriorates while I listen. I was so excited for this story that I bought the complete set but I can't get any further than 25 minutes in. Listening to this narrator is like getting a Flu shot, it might be beneficial but the crappy feeling you'll have from it is not worth it!

Love Dragons Gift Series

Love Love Love these books! Adventure, History, Romance, supernatural! It has it all! You can’t put it down. This series is done in a way that even if you don’t do them in order it still messes together. Can’t wait to read more.
