Summary
M thinks he has an easy case for 007. Exactly what’s needed after his latest near-fatal encounter with SMERSH. However, arriving in Jamaica to look for a missing agent and his secretary, Bond learns that the reclusive Dr Julius No could be connected with their disappearance. When Bond and the exotic Honeychile Rider are imprisoned on Dr No’s private island, they realise that his plans could threaten international security.

Ian Fleming was born in London in 1908. He was educated at Eton and worked as a journalist in Moscow and a banker and stockbroker in London before becoming personal assistant to the Director of Naval Intelligence during the Second World War. He wrote his first Bond novel, Casino Royale, in 1952 at Goldeneye, his home in Jamaica. Since then James Bond has gone on to become a global phenomenon.
Hugh Quarshie has a long and distinguished television career that encompasses Doctor Who, Holby City, Small Island and White Heat and the award-winning The Murder of Stephen Lawrence. He has also appeared in the films Ghosted, Highlander, To Walk with Lions and Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace. His theatre credits include leading roles at the National Theatre, RSC and Manchester Royal Exchange.

Bond brought to life by Hugh Quarshie
A great Bond story brilliantly brought to life by Hugh Quarshie. Hugh's narrative and characterisation is the best telling of Ian Flemming's Bind that I've heard.

Five stars.
A brilliantly read book by Hugh Quarshie. The characterisation was superb, and he set the right tone of the novel.
Another excellent book by Ian Fleming.

Simple and straightforward
Quite a simplistic, uncomplicated plot. The sixth of Fleming's series written in 1958, which, for me, was the most like the first film of the movie series filmed in 1964. The written Bond seems to have more heart and compassion than the ruthless, misogynistic Bond of the movies.

Brilliantly Brought to life by the Narrator
A great story made even more enjoyable by the skill of the narrator. Better than the film by a long chalk. Lovely little afterword by Hugh Quarshie. Looking forward to hearing more read by him.

Brilliant narration
The writing is the usual high quality with an excellent story line. What set this book in the series above the previous ones is the narration. Hugh Quarshie is a great actor and this comes through in this book. At the usual point where Bond is up against death I could feel the hair stand on my neck with the fantastic narration. Worth a listen just for the reading.

Excellent performance by Hugh Quarshie
Loved it. Hugh Quarshie does a great job bringing so many different characters to life. I especially liked his portrayal of Quarrell.

Bond as it should be read.
Hugh Quarshie has a very soothing voice to listen to. He delivers the charisma and charm of Bond but can also adapt to a more ruthless tone when required. Overall I really enjoyed listening to this. It made a good night time read.
