Summary

RHYSON:

She doesn't wear my ring. We never stood before a preacher. The only vows exchanged were between our bodies; between our souls. But she was mine and I was hers until I ruined it. I have to believe that every day, every step, every breath brings me closer to making things right. To making her mine again.

KAI:

I've seen promises broken. I know love makes no guarantees. But things were different for Rhys and me, until he lied, and I walked away. Only there's a chain between our hearts that I can't break. Even if I forgive him, a shadow from my past hangs over us; over this love that reaches all the way down to my soul.

This is Book 2 of the Soul Series. You MUST listen to Book 1, My Soul to Keep, first.

Deep Cries Out to Deep

I couldn't wait to start this book after finishing My Soul to Keep. I NEEDED to know what became of Rhyson and Kai. Down to My Soul is not a stand alone and should be read after book 1 in the series.

At the end of My Soul to Keep Rhyson had a lot to apologize for. His controlling behavior drove a huge wedge between him and Kai and resulted in their separation. I honestly didn't think he could redeem himself. Boy, was I wrong! This book showed a more open and vulnerable Rhyson (along with his alpha side) and I loved it! He truly showed Kai and everyone else how devoted he was to her and their relationship. At times it was borderline obsession, but was totally in line with his personality and character. Unfortunately, I had the opposite reaction to Kai in this book. I respected and really liked her in My Soul to Keep, but this time she came across as whiny, immature, and selfish. I understand that she was terrified of Rhyson's reaction to the big secret, but knowingly deceiving him (especially after the HELL she put him through after his mistake) really made me lose a lot of respect for her. I still love them as a couple, but Rhyson is definitely my favorite of the pair.

Kai Kennicott and Wen Ross were amazing again in this duet narration and both really shined with their emotional performances. They draw the listener in and have wonderful chemistry that worked perfectly for this series. I'll be reading the final book Refrain since there isn't an audiobook available, but I'm glad that this isn't the end of #Kaison.

Great Book

Would you consider the audio edition of Down to My Soul to be better than the print version?

Yes I would. Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott bring something to the story that words alone cannot bring. The bring life to the characters.

What about Wen Ross and Kai Kennicott ’s performance did you like?

I loved everything. They are great narrators and their voices are so animated.

Any additional comments?

Down To My Soul by Kennedy Ryan was a great book. This was a great continuation of Kai and Rhyson's story. Kai and Rhyson are two characters that you fall in love with and want the best things to happen to. I have enjoyed reading about their journey of music and love. There were many times that I wanted to yell at the both of them but also times that I was so happy for them. I loved this book and can't wait to read more by Kennedy Ryan.

5 Soulful Star’s

I loved book 1, I didn’t like how it ended only because well you have to read it. I am so thankful I got to go right in to this one. The narrators wow, I can’t say enough good things about how they brought this book to life.
The ways they complement each other, I just loved it.

Rhyson, oh I love him but I want to smack him, how did he think she was going to react. Men I have to shake my head. I know what he wanted to happen but it blew up in his face and now he is dealing with the consequences, I feel for the guy I do but a little suffering never hurt anyone… right?

‘Deep Calls out to Deep’

I am just going to randomly put quotes in. Yep so deal. ;)

Kai, I think what she did was the right and wrong thing; I think when you make emotional discussion things fall through the cracks. You can feel her pain in this book. It’s in the narrators words and voice. So it must leap off the page.
You can tell staying away is painful to her but she thinks she is doing what is right. And sometimes our hearts and heads don’t see eye to eye.

‘I live you.’

I also feel the best things in life are things we fight for, so I am glad how things end up working out. But mostly I am glad Kai got to heal from her mother and from her father. Even if just a little bit.

‘Even when we are apart we are together.’

Is it wrong that I loved getting to see all the parts of Rhyson in this book the struggle, the groveling, the love and the pain. Does that make me a little evil if so, so be it. This was one heck of a book.

‘You’re not my ex, you’re always.’

*All my Reviews are 100% honest and my own.*

Amazing Conclusion!!

Great Narrations by Wes and Kai, I really love how their voices brought so much to the story and the characters.. I felt like both of them added more emotions and feelings into the characters whenever they were going through something hard or even happy, making the story come to life..
..

The story of Rhyson and Kai continues on Down To My Soul.. people still trying to keep them apart, a lot of things are happing that are not making their relationship easy.. but they are stronger than ever and no matter how much they try for them to fail, they will never give up and fight until the end for that pure love..

In Down To My Soul, the roles reverse and now we get to see the mistakes Kai made.. but at the same time, we get to see how both characters grow so much from these situations.. at one point I felt like I was reliving what happened with Rhys in My Soul To Keep and now Kai was living the "same" but on the other side of the sidewalk.. This helped me so much to see both sides of the stories, feelings, and reactions.. I really love how Kennedy made us see all this.

"I want to be known, Pep, and I want to know you. Fully. I need to believe there isn’t any dark part of me I can’t trust you with, and I need you to believe the same.”

Kai is fighting to keep Rhys safe from something that may harm their relationship but sooner or later things are going to become way more complicated, she will have to decide if she wants to finally bring these problems and lies to an end or keep hiding things that sooner or later will bring chaos and harm to what she loves the most..

"Not an ocean, not forever Nothing wide or deep Will ever end this love between us My soul is yours to keep"

Rhys is fighting his own demons, his control, his family, the press and so many other enemies who are trying to bring him down.. The only thing keeping him strong is his love for Kai.. but sooner or later something will come up that will bring all those insecurities and doubts alive .. is a matter of time to be able to move on and trust again ..

"She blurs everything. Erases every line I’ve drawn in the sand. Forces me to rethink the boundaries of right, wrong, acceptable, never would, and couldn’t ever. She’s my absolute. It should scare me, but I’m just too damn grateful to have her."

The love of Rhyson and Kai was very beautiful, Kennedys characters always love so deep and Down To My Soul was not the exception. we saw and felt Rhysons love for Kai since the first moment they saw each other.. their chemistry was off the charts, you could feel their connection through the pages.. no matter how many times life and people tried to bring them down and keep them apart.. their love was stronger than anything and anybody.. love conquers everything..

“You went deeper than anyone ever had. You peeled away every layer of skin, sunk through the flesh, and I felt you right next to my bones. For the first time in my life I felt fully . . . known.”

Once again Kennedy has blown me with her writing, I have so many things to say about Down To My Soul it was beautiful, breathtaking, full of love.. but I'll leave you with this:

“No matter what happens, my heart and my soul, I give them to you. They’re yours to keep.”

Great continuation

This is another emotionally-charged story by Kennedy Ryan. Our journey into the lives of Rhyson and Kai continue with very interesting twists and turns. We go from the big city and even venture to her small home town. Lots of hills to climb and valleys to ascend from; so is the incredible love story that she has penned. Great job!

Sex, Lies, and videotapes!

I felt this book from beginning to end. The suspense of not knowing who was behind Kia's secrets was the perfect amount of angst. This book was swoon worthy, and breath taking. I floved it. Kennedy Ryan has me hooked. I can't wait to get into the next.
