About this listen

Ox inherits a farm in the Ozark Hills from his great-uncle. Ox and his wife Judy invite Walt and Maggie to go with them to check it out. Little did they know that they would encounter drug dealers, wildlife poachers, and a religious fanatic that would threaten to spoil their trip.

Also adding to the intrigue, the neighbor who owns the farm next door is insistent on buying Ox’s farm, but why? When Ox refuses to sell, his insistent buyer devises a plan that ultimately places the lives of our heroes in peril.

Walt is back to his brilliant old self in this instalment to a great series. I love the way lots of small cases or situations happen to make up one good book, this means the story goes off in lots of different directions and you are never show were your adventure is going to take you but it is going to be fun and full of laughs along the way. This book mainly focuses on Walt and Ox and it is great to see the pair back in trouble together. Most of the series is set in Kansas City so I enjoyed the authors take of living in the country and it colourful cast of characters. This book is a very good example of why this book is number 43 and even though you don't need to have read or heard the rest of the books, aren't you a little bit curious how a series can last so long and still draw in five star reviews? Listen and find out for yourself.
Ox uncle has died and left him a farm. Unsure what to so with it he takes his old partner Walt and his wife with him to check it out. The farm house like his uncle is old and cod do with some work, like indoor plumbing but before he makes a decision or whether to keep it or sell it he gets an offer. This immediately raises suspicions, especially when the buyer becomes pushy. Before Ox can make up his mind he and Walt will have to face off against guns held by drug growers, poachers and religious nuts and they say living in the country is boring and to quiet. It's all in a day's work for ex cop Walt.
George Kutch is a big part of why I love this series his narration is excellent every time.

When Oz inherits a 160 acre farm from a forgotten relative, he invites his old police partner Walt, and wife Maggie to join him, and his wife, Judy, on a holiday trip to view the place. Far nicer than expected, it is not, however, without it's problems.
Another fun story with detective twists as the two sets of friends find that the country can be anything but peaceful. Once again George Kuch narrates, the perfect Walt Williams voice.

This is a series I have thoroughly enjoyed from the first book, every one a pleasure. As is this, book 43. Thank you, Robert Thornhill: long may you continue writing. Recommended.
