About this listen

"Robert Clinch loved his boat more that anything else in the world...more than his wife...his kids...his girlfiend...even more than the largemouth bass he was pursuing." Thus begins a twisted tale of murder in the world of big-stakes bass fishing tournaments. Filled with ex-wives, evangelists, and an armed pit-bull, this is a story that could only be concocted by Carl Hiaasen, Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist, New York Times best-selling author, and czar of Florida noir fiction.©1988 Carl Hiaasen (P)1998 Recorded Books, LLC Crime Fiction Dark Humour Fiction Literature & Fiction Mystery Private Investigators Satire Suspense Thriller & Suspense Comedy Crime Detective Funny Fishing Witty

Critic reviews

"The cast of bizarre characters and the suspenseful events confirm Hiaasen's reputation for creating singular villains and heroes. While he's probably unpopular among some fellow citizens in his home state, he will certainly please readers who appreciate the Swiftian wit in his cautionary tales." ( Publishers Weekly)
"The action is swift, and there are some very funny scenes." ( Library Journal)

This is one of his best, and narrated superbly too. You can rely on Hiaasen to make you laugh out loud while he gets his eco messages across, and kills the baddies too.

Great, classic Hiaasen

Always enjoy these books - laugh out loud moments and delivered in a sarcastic manner which is perfectly pitched as the story
Unfolds - a funny story that will keep you entertained

Would you consider the audio edition of Double Whammy to be better than the print version?

Skink at his most, with a supporting cast of misfits, both good and bad, what's not to like? Brilliantly narrated too!

Any additional comments?

Like I said in the headline, indignation can be very funny, and it's a help for us tree huggers who maybe feel despondent at the enormity of the task we face if we want to make a difference in the fight for the environment.
