Summary

What would you do if you woke up and found yourself in a parallel universe under an alien sky? This is the question Zax Delatree must answer every time he closes his eyes.

Every time Zax Delatree falls asleep, he travels to a new reality. He has no control over his destination and never knows what he will see when he opens his eyes. Sometimes he wakes up in technological utopias, and other times in the bombed-out ruins of collapsed civilizations. All he has to live by are his wits and the small aides he has picked up along the way - technological advantages from techno-utopias, sedatives to escape dangerous worlds, and stimulants to extend his stay in pleasant ones.

Thankfully, Zax isn’t always alone. He can take people with him, if they’re unconscious in his arms when he falls asleep. But someone unwelcome is on his tail, and they are after something that Zax cannot spare - the blood running through his veins, the power to travel through worlds...

Chaotic portal-hopping through the multiverse

A good, interesting scifi adventure that takes the reader/listener along on a chaotic journey through loads of worlds in the multiverse (because of Zax's "condition" most worlds remain quite superficial. Some worlds go by faster than it takes to finish a yawn. Some great, cool, scary, intriguing places and interesting characters. This story would work really well as a tv-series). Narrator (Brian Boston) had a very pleasant voice + he altered it well when switching characters, very nice to listen to his narration. I hope there'll be a sequel soon.

Can this book make the metaverse seem boring? Yes

Mr. Pratt takes the intriguing idea of an infinity of universes (the metaverse) and.......nothing. Ho Hum. The idea of a universe traveling man who flips to new worlds every time that he sleeps sounds interesting at the least. What we get from the author is a shallow tale with one dimensional characters. I couldn’t develop any empathy for the MC....seemed no purpose in his ramblings. The villain?.....don’t bother...portrayed as a sniveling Uncle Fester....honestly, this book comes across as a teen comic book. A waste of your time and a credit.

A WonderfulTrip

This is my first review and I really enjoyed traveling with Zack. I have ever read this writer before and normally read the likesofHarlan Ellison, Michael Moorcock and such. I have to say the plot was fantastic and you really cared about our protagonist while you did have a dark bad guy and even covered some socio cultural issues. Looking forward to a sequel.

Phenomenal!

Cannot wait for more! Ditch the space operas Tim, you've found a better sub-genre! Couldn't stop listening.
