Vague spoilers: I liked the overall story arc but it read like a tumblr fanfic. Very angsty which isn't necessarily a bad thing but it was not fleshed out enough which made it feel like a cheap grab. The queer representation/self discovery aspect was the best part of the book. The worst parts were the action scenes in the forest which felt lazily written, and more generally the concept of simply going out and fighting monsters every night on no sleep and with supposedly horrific injuries.

Oh my goodness the writing in this book is dark and beautiful and immense and weaves a tale of a boy lost in a fairytale. The way this book handles real life topics was nothing more than amazing. Wow what a read
