I guess you could say I was a damsel in distress, and he was my knight in shining armor. But more accurately, I was a girl with a lot of bad luck, and he was a guy with a lot of muscles and tattoos.

Jude "Lucky" Lucketti wasn't just a sexy, brooding construction worker. He was my own personal hero, showing up in all the right places at the right times. Like when my car broke down and I needed a ride home, and when I face-planted on the sidewalk right in front of him and had to be taken to the emergency room.  

We became friends, and it didn't matter that he was 16 years older than me. We had a lot in common - like our love of old rock music and vintage fast cars and our aversion to relationships.  

When he approached me with a crazy idea to help me out with my many problems, I couldn't say no.  

The arrangement was supposed to be temporary. A marriage on paper and nothing else. It should've been easy, but it wasn't. Because here I am, 18 years old, still in high school, and married to a man I was never supposed to fall in love with.  

We had just one rule - no kissing the bride. But we broke that rule, and it sealed our fate forever.

The story is sweet and tragic and addicting, still I struggled with it as the mfc is so damaged in a way that was heartbreaking. I prefer my mfc to be stronger.
She is a 18 year old high schooler, with a ton of mental and physical health issues and extremely neglectful parents. She is drawing and things start to look up when they meet and he comes to her rescue. He is 34 construction worker with commitment issues. When he decided to help her things are very full on...... There is a some spice after about 40/50% of the book, so be ready for a slow burn.
The book was good, I just didn't like Skylar, so I listen/read it at 2x speed for most of it. But, I did slow down when she confronted her dad.
Free on KU and catalogue plus (Audible uk). Amazing narration. Aiden Snow has an amazing voice and Desiree's voice sounded as vulnerable as the character is. They narration made an emotional story even more sentimental.

I’ve fallen in love with this couple. To see how they over came their struggles working ultimately to a life together in the end.
I do want more for them, I want to know where their life has taken them.
