Summary

To aspiring writer Arthur Conway, the job offer from a small bank proves a welcome haven - especially with his mounting bills.

But Alastair - his cousin who works at the same bank - sees Arthur's arrival as an opportunity to unlock the fortunes of the bank while the manager is away. When his scheme fails, a new manager takes over with a bold plan to transform the bank.

After Arthur falls in love with Jenny, the young consultant brought in, he faces stiff competition from her pet dog Ben.

Spurned by his love in a jealous misunderstanding, can Arthur foil an attempt to rob the bank and win her love?

Recommended

I would recommend this to fans of olde Englishe humour BBC sitcoms. There are all types of crazy characters in this audiobook.

Different but good

The opening scene was set perfectly. Arthur Conway is a likeable protagonist that has to go through hoops when he meets his old acquaintance Alistair. Who has a devious plan in hand for a big heist.

Great overall

The plot was a little weird at first but once you get through the first chapter and the quick pace of the chapters at the beginning it's a pleasant story with enough suspense and drama to carry through till the end.

The narrator doing an old aunties voice lol

The narrator made me laugh out loud at the beginning with Arthur’s Old Aunties voice and all the other characters were all different.

I didn’t see that plot twist coming

It caught me off guard with the twist in the middle. I guess it was kind of building up to it with all the money being stored away in the strong room.

Well written

I enjoyed the structure of the book. The opening scene set up Arthur Conway desperation to do what he loves, that’s writing, but how does he do that? He will need to find a job first to pay his rent.

Could have been shorter

Overall I did enjoy this audiobook. The characters were good, but I think it could have been shorter, the ending with Arthur and Miss. Young wasn’t needed in my opinion

Alistair’s selfless actions

I was into the worlds about Alistair’s actions about using Arthur for his own needs, but I became fond of Alistair’s witty character towards the end.

It grows on you

The opening is slightly slow, but it does get right into the action of Alistair using Arthur Conway for his devious plans to rob the bank
