Summary

The dog days of summer bring murder to the Smoky Mountains in this 10th installment of the best-selling Raine Stockton Dog Mystery Series. For Raine Stockton, owner and proprietor of Dog Daze Boarding and Training, August is the busiest time of year. She has all she can handle with a kennel full of dogs, a very strange new employee, and a personal life that seems to be falling apart at the seams. The last thing she needs is another complication. But when she takes in a gorgeous white golden retriever that was found covered in blood and wandering alone in a national park, the complications have only begun. When the new dog escapes during the night, the search for her leads Raine and her irascible search-and-rescue dog, Cisco, to the scene of a tragic accident at the bottom of a gorge. But was it an accident, or a well-planned murder? The answer to that question draws Raine into a dangerous intrigue in which she doesn't know who to trust...one that will turn an afternoon at the fair into a deadly ordeal, and could end up costing Raine her life.

Great book for Dog lover's!

This was fun to listen to! Never sure what will happen next in the story. Only reason I rated it four star was the length of time the author took to explain the main character's time in the locked box truck. A bit too long! Otherwise I t was a great book.

Still Loving this Series!

🦮🦮🦮🦮 Yeah, I am listening to these in order and will continue to the end. Good performance, interesting light mystery, occasional suspense without detailed gore, light romance, cast of characters is stable with good backstory, new characters introduced slowly so you can keep track - some stay, some are just there for a specific book.

The focus of the series is a female character named Raine and her K9 boarding/training facility. The dogs are primary characters and they provide most of the fun and excitement. Raine is independent and passionate about her dogs above all else. She gets on her high horse a little too often for my taste but it works for the story. She makes stupid decisions sometimes in the name of being an independent woman and that shows emense immaturity in my opinion. I would like to see her character develop more.... She is not someone I would want in my life...too much self imposed drama. Honestly, I can't figure out what the men in her life see in her because she is very selfish in relationships. Almost feels like you are riding along in the popular girl's posse for no good reason.

All of that said, and I am still enjoying the listen; I just don't want Raine to move in next door to me cause she is going to be needy while claiming to be independent and then she will maneuver everything so I have to get on board with whatever she has going on in her life.

I would recommend this fun series. It will keep you entertained and best of all, you can listen to it with your famity! The dogs really do make it fun and you will learn a little about dog training along the way.

Dog Days

Really enjoying the stories as you take Raine out of her comfort zone with outrageous cases. I enjoy how you give her strength and resolve, 24-7. Loved this "tail"
