Summary

A war of magic. A legend of three elves. Darkness threatening to return.

Elves were supposed to be gone, defeated in the great war. Magic is practiced behind closed doors, and only by the elites. All I was trying to do was survive, maybe with a bit more curiosity about my master's magic than I should've allowed. He caught me snooping, and sent me on a quest to steal a magic scroll. A quest that would change my life.

Soon, I found myself caught up in a whirlwind journey that involved elves, monsters, and more than one hottie in my bed.

I was terrified. I was challenged. I was pleasured beyond belief.

I was loving every second of it, and now get to share that journey with you.

Warning: Harem elements, though more so in Books 2 and 3. The spicy sort, with detail.

An interesting story

I find the definition of terms interesting in this book but once I got over that the plot was interesting and so were the characters. I sometimes find it hard to switch my mind from predetermined mythology to the mythology and norms of a particular authors world. That was the case in this book. I found the Main Characters Interesting and not over powered, with a lot of room to grow and much to learn. Overall a good book, I’ll have to listen again to catch more of the depth. I’m interested to see where we go from here.

Happy to see this on Audible

When I had first seen this book go up on Amazon I'd hoped to see it here soon. I was not disappointed. The story and characters were entertaining and unique. I'm definitely interested in seeing how the next book unfolds.

Decent story, poor character development

Grant is you’re typical underdog with special powers others don’t have. We don’t really get a look at these powers in this book so for book one Grant is just baggage. The Djinn in this story is a beautiful Demoness in appearance, and a strong magic caster and fighter in spirit. Grant essentially just stumbles onto her and she instantly wants to have sex with him. From the moment they meet, this Djinn is essentially head over heels for this underdog. Perhaps I’m just too picky but her whole character feels fake. She’s described as intoxicatingly beautiful and incredibly powerful. Yet she goes out of her way to waste time teaching poor Grant how to use his powers instead of simply using her own to further her agenda. I guess I just don’t like their bonding at all. Grant has nothing going for him because he can’t do anything by himself in this book, and the Djinn is just a manifestation of the author’s lust and personal fantasies. Don’t get me wrong, I love these kinds of fantasies when there’s buildup. I feel like characters need to bond mentally waaaay before they bind physically but the roles are reversed in this book. Anyway, I think I’ve got my point across. Decent book, but I can’t honestly recommend for the price against other titles in the genre

adult content too much

this is not a story about the hero and his party. This is about using adult content to unlock the hero magic. Need more story less adult content.

Wild Ride

This is definitely written from the male perspective and targeting college aged readers but it is still a fun ride. Mark seems to like an H with a penchant for multiple h's as the next books show so if you know that going in, complaining is a bit futile. You will go on a wild ride throughout this story and they do not end with cliffhangers.

So, So

Hard to get through, at least it was short. There seems to be cussing, just to cuss. I don’t believe I’ve read so much bad language in any other book, ever. And sex to replenish power? That’s new. I think it’s just a way to add a lot of sex scenes.

worth your time

I don't know about anyone else, but this series felt like 2 trilogies back to back. Each book is about five hours long despite runtime listings. The 1st 5 books have approximately an hour preview for next book in the series at the end. The issue I have found with shorter stories specifically in this genre and with trilogies is that authors seem resistant to time jumps. This, in my opinion, leads to an MC that can't tie his shoes today, risk destroying Galaxies with a sneeze tomorrow. For his part Mark Albany appears to have no such hang ups and though this series is technically short it really didn't feel that way. I really enjoyed this set of well written and performed books and I think you will too.

Never really got off the ground for me

Has some adult content but the whole theme seems very childish and innocent. I won’t be listening to the rest of the series.

It's fine

I think the narrator has a odd cadence to his voice. It took me out of the book several times. The story itself is fine. Nothing new or risky.
