Summary

Epic adventures, sexy ladies, and awesome dinosaurs!

Three big audiobooks all in one great place.

Nate is the hardworking CEO of SouthernCool, an AC company in Florida. After years of toiling to get rich, he finally takes a well-deserved vacation to Australia. A chance encounter ties him to a gorgeous gal named Senna. Right as things between the two are heating up on the Great Barrier Reef, pesky aliens intervene.

Humanity is doomed, they tell him, destined to become extinct in the not-too-distant future. Nate and Senna are forced to compete for a spot on a human preserve. The competition turns out to be similar to a Real Time Strategy (RTS) 4x game. That means, in order to score points, you have to eXpand your empire, eXterminate your foes, and eXplore and eXploit your environment.

Warning: Contains nontraditional relationships, adult interactions that would steam up the windows of an old pickup truck, and violent action. 18+ recommended.

Grate book but Too many pointless characters

Really enjoyed the book the only criticism I would have with it is that the author tends to introduce characters for like 45 minutes I don’t know disappear will become irrelevant afterwards

Fairly solid across the board. A lot of adult content

Don’t let the 4’s fool you, in a lot of ways and for a lot of people I’m sure this is worth a 5.

Overview
This book delivers on its titular promise with RTS style dinosaur-involved warlording. The premise of an alien induced rts game style hunger games is definitely there, and stays on course as the objective. Solid voice acting cast carries this quite well with a decent variety of distinguishable character voices and accents.

My point deductions mostly come from an endless barrage of the endearment terms “Wifee, Waifu, and Wifi.”
I don’t particularly find the characters to grow over the trilogy, and the MC is carried by his team constantly in a cycle of get killed early, wakes up and his team carried on for 2 years without him and ranked high. I also hate the antagonist faction, the lack of effort put into them was grating. Swinging radically between extremes of competence, with very thin motivations.

All that aside. Well worth the listen, be advised there’s a huge amount of graphic adult content, definitely headphones on listening.

fun series!

if you enjoy Syfy and fantasy gamelit harem books - you will probably enjoy this series!

Abducted by aliens, the MC and his lady acquaintance find themselves trapped in a galactic entertainment game with the future of mankind at stake! Forced to play a real life real-time strategy game that includes personal combat, of course dinosaurs are a great choice...

Rebecca and Daniel do a great job with the narration!

I enjoyed this series, and with three books in one, lasting almost 40 hours this is a crazy good use of a credit!!!

Teenage male sex fantasy

This book and story could have been great, but every single chapter had to end with an overly detailed teenage boys sexual fantasies. Pure trash and it completely ruined the books for me.

Shucks

I like the harem lit genre, but I struggle to listen to most books. Dinosaur Warlord is not one of those books.

The the system is kinda of like a survival craft mixed with a rts which ends up being fun and compelling. I also appreciate how most of the erotic scenes are at the end of the chapter so I can listen at the gym and just skip if needed.

My main complaint is that a some characters felt flat.

GameLit Meets HaremLit

Dinosaur Warlord is a long adventure (almost 40 hours total) and well worth the time. Except for a nitpick about wanting another couple of chapters at the end, this omnibus was fantastic and probably my favorite book I listened to this year. Because its three books in one, It’s probably better if I talk about each book separately.

Book One has a great set up and the more it went on through the plot, the more I wanted to root for the characters. There were several fun surprises and appearances that quickly became essential to the story. I’m glad book two was right there because I wanted more immediately after it was over.

Book Two continued with the 4x game and the I was pleasantly surprised by the up and down time Nate and Senna had in the competitions. In most books in the genre, the heroes are unstoppable and slightly boring by this point. I appreciated the struggle. I really liked the cast of characters by the end of book one and was infatuated by them by the conclusion of book 2

Book Three was the most different of them all partially due to plot devices. While I wanted more of the same from book one and two, I’m glad that I wasn’t given what I wanted because book 3 was much more interesting than typical closing books in series. A lot of my favorite characters were MIA and the new characters didn’t grab me like the book one and two cast did. I would have liked much more ending “post game” from Nate, Senna, and all the others. It was a short epilogue that probably should have been a chapter or three.

The harem elements were a good mix of romance and sex. One thing Dinosaur Warlord did better than most HaremLit was that there were other couples that were friends of main harem. I made the world seem less empty and provided good banter.

All the books have time jumps forward that keep the pacing right where it needs to be. DW never gets bogged down in the game mechanics either.

Of course all books share the same narrators and they are definitely a plus to the book. I love dual narration and I’d never heard either of the narrators before. I’ll be looking for more of their work. While never a fan of 4x games, this omnibus made me want play the game mechanics. I need this as a game.

For transparency sake, I was provided a code for this book. I am so glad I did because I may not have ever gotten around to trying Sloss’ books and now I want more from him.

Almost Great

Great action great plot. Good Descriptive narrative makes you feel like you’re there. The only part that had me fast forwarding is (Way) too much gratuitous sex. A few Segues leave you wondering what the Hells going on. But overall I was entertained.
