Summary

You are Invited to a Dinner with Jesus of Nazareth

The mysterious envelope arrives on Nick Cominsky's desk amid a stack of credit card applications and business-related junk mail. Although his 70-hour workweek has already eaten into his limited family time, Nick can't pass up the opportunity to see what kind of plot his colleagues have hatched.

The normally confident, cynical Nick soon finds himself thrown off-balance, drawn into an intriguing conversation with a baffling man who appears to be more than comfortable discussing everything from world religions to the existence of heaven and hell. And this man who calls himself Jesus also seems to know a disturbing amount about Nick's personal life.

Good food for thought

I'm sure that there are people who believe there are many roads to God "just won't get it" when it comes to this book. As someone who believed Jesus when he said "I am the Way" and not "I am a way," I found this book to be an insightful analysis of the world's religions.

Thought provoking...

What did you like best about Dinner with a Perfect Stranger? What did you like least?

The performance is smooth, easy to listen to, engaging.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

I found myself wondering how I would respond to this Perfect Stranger were I to have dinner with him. The conversation covers some of the universal questions one considers when deciding whether a particular spiritual concept rings true. Because it's a quick listen and because the protagonist's situation is familiar to so many, the listener will likely find comforting food for thought.

Meeting With Jesus

I read this book as a teenager, and I remembered some of it. I forgot just how wonderful the book is, however. The author explains well different religions and how they are different from true Christianity. The points that the author makes in this book are insightful, and I enjoyed rereading this book.

The writing is clear and simple, the message clear, and the love of God is shown through this portrayal of Jesus and how he searches for lost souls. All the wonderful promises that are fulfilled in this short, beautiful story makes me excited as I rediscover some things that I haven't thought about in a while. Everybody needs a reminder once in a while, and this book's approach to simple truths is a good way to get people to remember what they once thought, felt, or believed.

If any person is struggling to reconcile the Bible, Jesus, and God's love for sinners with the suffering and the claims of other religions, this is the book. I believe if a person is old enough to process the Bible and what it says about God, then I believe they are old enough to take in this delightful book. The amazing love of God brought me to tears by the closing sentence. A wonderful book full of truth and love, I recommend it to all who desire truth.
