Summary

When Navy SEAL Mack Bedford's fellow officers are brutally killed by Iraqi insurgents using a cruel, new anti-tank Diamondhead missile, Mack avenges their murders by gunning down the then-unarmed attackers, ultimately getting himself court-martialed and kicked out of the Navy. To make matters worse, Mack then learns that the Diamondhead missiles were sold illegally by French industrialist and infamous politician Henri Foche. Mack believes Foche will become the next French President, and fears that his election will result in the cancellation of all navy-ship purchases from the United States, and thus protect French interests in the Diamondhead. End result: doom for Mack's hometown shipbuilding yard and the spread of international terrorism.

Gripping Story

The story was gripping and well written, I found the characters believable and got swept up along with the story.

The author needs to do more research

the irish accents are terrible, revolvers don't have magazines and tanks don't have a fuselage

A guilty pleasure

The plot is 'Boys Own' silly, the politics jingoistic and yet it is madly compelling and enjoyable. A genuine 'guilty pleasure'.

Good story. 5 hours too long.

I liked the storyline and the narration was really engaging but I couldn’t help but feel that there was just too much waffle. A lot of repetition and description of things in no way relevant to the plot. Cut it down by 5 hours and it would be have been 5 stars from me.

Hes done it again.

It never ceases to amaze me how everytime i read a book by Patrick Robinson the ending takes me completely by surprise. The way he articulates the story and also the way that the narrator tells the story are in perfect harmony. Brilliant book excellently narrated.

Excellent

The American accent of the narrator makes listening very strange but none the less enjoyable

Great listen

This book is great, the main character is great. This book was included in my membership and immediately looked for more by this author with this character, I found another one and was very happy once more. I hope there are some more involving this character coming out soon. Mack Bedford is a close second as a main character to Dan spider shepard who is the main character in Stephen Leather books. I've only been getting into this genre of books for about 1 year using audible, im hoping to find some more great authors and characters, I have found a couple more so far, John Dempsey is one

Good Story

This was a good story with some good research. Just a shame the performance let it down.
If a story line has multiple internal characters, I would reasonably expect it to be narrated by someone with a varied repertoire of accents. This story was sadly let down by the dreadful portrayal of the main characters.
Not everyone can do accents, that's just how it is.
Please! If you can't, don't.
It's a spoiler!!!
