Summary

Nevada Frida Baylor and Connor Ander Rogan cordially invite you to join their wedding celebration. Summoning, weather manipulation, and other magical activities strictly forbidden.

Catalina Baylor is looking forward to wearing her maid of honor dress and watching her older sister walk down the aisle. Then the wedding planner gets escorted off the premises, the bride’s priceless tiara disappears, and Rogan's extensive family overruns his mother’s home. Someone is cheating, someone is lying, and someone is plotting murder.

To make this wedding happen, Catalina will have to do the thing she fears most: use her magic. But she’s a Baylor, and there’s nothing she wouldn't do for her sister's happiness. Nevada will have her fairy-tale wedding, even if Catalina has to tear the mansion apart brick by brick to get it done.

Good

I got into this story more as it went on, but it lacked something compared to the full novels. Still good though!

Phenomenal book

Catalina comes into her own in this book. It gives you a taster of what’s to come. You learn more about her powers, I can’t wait for the next book in this series.

A bit more please

I have listened and read everything Ilona Andrews has put out but when they announce a change of narrator I was a bit crushed. Reneé Raudman has been hands down one of the best narrators ever. But with that being said Emily Rankin was also great. She really brought Catalina to life. This story was more so about her and the struggles of finding yourself and your own voice. I really understand her a lot more now and I am just as invested in her story as I would be with Nevada. Rogan’s mother is everything i had hoped she would be as well. I cannot wait to see what happens next.

Narrator was a disappointment

Renee Raudman, one of my favorite narrators, only read the opening. The rest of the book was read by someone else and she is only ok.

Good, too short

Really good story but it is too short. It feels like a prelude to the real story. Or maybe the first 5 chapters of a book with 25 left to go.
Both narrators are very good, and I liked Catalina having her “own” voice. Connor’s mom is an amazing character. I hope she makes more appearances in the future.
I gave the story 4 stars because I dislike teasers - and this is just a peek at Catalina’s potential. There was room for more here.

Passing of the torch done right!

In many ways this book is passing the torch. Not only did we get a new heroine but a new narrator too. (good choices, marketing!) I can't wait for Catalina's first full book. (and hopefully we'll see Alessandro too.) This book was fun, funny, and made me ready for more. I did guess part of the plot but there is a lot going on here. New narrator is good, I will need to associate her versions of the voices now but it won't be too bad. I think they should have Raudman help coach Rankin for the first book maybe.

Catalina is different from Nevada, so far in a good way. These differences are enough so that we can have new twists and still continue the overall plot with no issues. I like seeing the same characters through the eyes of another. The different POV helps us explore familiar characters in new ways.

Catalina to the Rescue.

Ilona Andrews are my favorite writing duo. I love the romance, the action, the comedy and especially the characters. I look forward to everything they write. This book is no exception and I anticipate more from Catalina and her family. Rogan’s family on the other hand are questionable, but I loved his mom and I loved the little girl with the bedazzler. Of course, I wish this was a longer book and I felt like the bad guy was caught to easily that this could have been a longer book. I love Rene Raudman as a narrator and Emily Rankin did a good job.

Catalina or Nevada?

The story had an intriguing plot with interesting secondaries, especially the villains. What I wasn’t as happy about is Catalina and Nevada share so many of the same personality traits they never really seemed like different people except when using power. They share the same kind of interior monologues and reactions. I hope Catalina and Arabella develop more as individuals in future books which I do intend to purchase. I enjoyed it.

I can hardly wait for the next book...

What a wonderful novella... Figuratively, this is a passing of the baton... Nevada is getting married, and is passing her duties of running the family owned detective agency to her sister Catalina... and even before the marriage takes place, Catalina gets her first job...

This story is actually a service to Ilona's fans, who self describe themselves as the BDH (Book Devouring Horde), but in reality, this would be a great place to step into the series, even if you've never read the previous stories! Ilona Andrews is extremely adept at giving just enough backstory, without inundating you with detail!
This is Catalina's first real appearance as a solid character... and Catalina is Absolutely Awesome! She gets to exercise her power, without a catastrophic outcome, and Leon is more than ready to play backup to protect Catalina and the rest of his family. Oh yeah, you're gonna love Leon... just wait and see!

This audio book is narrated by a familiar favorite, Renee Raudman playing Nevada and a new voice for Ilona Andrews fans, Emily Rankin who plays Catalina, and I loved listening to this tale. This was was a sneaky fun intro, so the fans get a taste of Emily's work as she takes over narrating the Hidden Legacy series, Catalina's POV.

...And as intended, I can hardly wait for the next book!

Beautiful wedding for an excellent series

This fourth book in the hidden legacy series is told from second sister's point of view. In keeping with the other three books, when Nevada scares off the wedding planners, Catalina and Arabella take over. Planning a large wedding that will be attended by Houston's magical elite is sufficiently difficult all by itself, but it is complicated by the discovery that Rogan, although an only child, has a whole raft of uncles, aunts, and cousins on his mother's side of the family.

The novella is a charming and enlightening view of the Baylor family, and we learn a great deal more about Catalina and her talents. Readers are advised to read the other three Hidden Legacy novels before reading this novella. It could stand alone, but it is more meaningful as the capstone for Nevada and Conner Rogan's romance. The small mystery, a missing tiara traditionally worn by the brides in Conner Rogan's mother's family, comes to an enchanting and rather touching conclusion, even though some of the revelations along the way are a bit more grim.

Wish it was longer!

I love Ilona Andrews and own most all of her titles. Kate Daniels was my favorite until the Hidden Legacy series came out. Not even sure why, but this series has become my favorite. I was disappointed when I thought the series was over, so I'm overjoyed to learn it will continue! This novella had more story packed in it that many full length books and is a great bridge to the next trilogy. My only disappointment is that I have to wait a year for the next book.
Rene Raudman is great, as usual. I typically don't like narrator changes in a series--since it is jarring to suddenly hear characters with greatly different voices and intonations--but found the shift to Emily Rankin very smooth. She continues the narration style of previous books nicely while giving Catalina her own voice.

You've done it again!

Another nearly perfect book! These characters continue to fascinate me and their stories intrigue me until I want to read them over and over and over again!
