Summary

In this audiobook, you'll understand how you can harness the power of dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) to regulate your emotions, improve relationships with others, live in the moment, and counter stress regardless of the circumstances in which you are!

Born as a remedy for people with borderline personality disorders (BPD), dialectical behavior therapy has proven to be a valid remedy for all types of destructive behaviors, including, but not only, food and drug abuse, disorders and many others mental health problems.

But what exactly is DBT?
How can it help change your life?
How does it work?
Are there scientific and proven studies to support its effectiveness?
What are its goals?
And how can it be used to better live moments, adjust your emotions, improve your relationships with others, and make stress regress?

This audiobook looks to answer each of these questions from A-Z to ensure at the end of it, to have an above-average understanding of this type of cognitive behavioral therapy and to be able to use it to improve your life.

Imagine a life without stress, frustration, anger, disappointment, drama, or any other negative emotions that come from your experiences....

Think about how fulfilling life would be if you'd be able to tame your emotions, that now seem uncontrollable, and have no meltdowns or emotional explosions....

Life would be great, right?

You can get to all this, taking advantage of the power of DBT.

And this audiobook will show you exactly how to get into this world step by step using useless no-frills language!

More precisely, the audiobook will teach you:

  • The theory and research about DBT
  • How there is a unique connection between mindfulness and emotion regulation
  • How DBT differs from other cognitive behavioral therapy techniques
  • How to develop and cultivate powerful skills that will help you focus on your current time to reduce worries, stress, PTSD, and more
  • How to effectively counteract impulsive behavior using DBT techniques
  • How to reduce the sense of connection to your real inner self by making the maximum use of DBT
  • How to deal with extreme stress or difficulties and master the regulation of emotions as a secret agent
  • How to improve effectiveness in interpersonal relationships by harnessing the power of DBT
  • And much more!

Everything is explained in an easy-to-follow elementary way so that at the end of the audiobook, you won't feel confused and lost without having any idea what to do.

You’ll know what to do at all times and in every circumstance, even if this is the first time you approach DBT!

This stuff works.

This stuff works. Much of it works immediately and just improves with practice. Really practical exercises that are easy to learn and relate too and there is a wide selection for different personality types and thinking styles. You have to out it work, a book by itself can't do much, but if you learn and practice these exercises you can come a long way to bring peace and calm back into your life. Highly recommended.

It’s organized in a very easy to follow way.

Great workbook! It follows the DBT method and has been really helpful for me. It’s organized in a very easy to follow way. Unlike many DBT workbooks you don’t need to do this with a therapist, you can follow it and learn from it on your own.

This book is changing my life.

This book is changing my life - I have had emotional issues due to different aspects of trauma and this definitely is helping me manage them better and assist with a different outlook on the negative things that happen in this life. I highly recommend this book - do not let depression or trauma affect your health, relationships, career, etc. anymore!

This book is full of powerful exercises.

This book is full of powerful exercises, not just for those dealing with BPD, but for anyone dealing with stress or emotional regulation problems and is probably useful and beneficial to just about anyone in general. I use, recommend, and teach a number of the exercises in this book regularly.

Great workbook!

Great workbook! I use it in conjunction with a workshop I attend. It is very helpful and in-depth. It helps you to really look at your behavior and how to manage and change your thought process. Easy to follow and you can jump around to various chapters, as I do to follow my class. It has helped me a lot by recognizing my behavioral trends with emotionally thinking and bringing me to the here and now. I highly recommend!! One of the best self-help books I have used.

Wonderful workbook.

Wonderful workbook. The therapist I am working with had me buy it and we have gone through it together. It has been a great experience to have someone guide me through the process. But if someone is truly committed to making changes in their life, I think they could go through it without assistance. On the other hand, having the weekly session with the therapist kept me accountable and we were able to pass over some of the ideas and suggestions that really didn't seem to be a good fit for me.

This book is literally a lifesaver!

I am a licensed professional counselor who works with people who have complex PTSD and BPD. This book is literally a lifesaver for some of my clients. It's down-to-earth and easy to follow, even when somebody is in an acute crisis. It's not designed to be a treatment manual for therapists, but rather, a workbook for clients and a great companion to the this author's book. When a client is in crisis, I sell them at cost so they can take it home right away.

This audiobook has become my little toolbox.

This workbook has become my little toolbox and roadmap for navigating overwhelming emotions and interpersonal relationships. DBT requires hard work and introspection and consistency, but the payoffs are so worth it, that it's difficult to even put into words. This has changed my life and has put me on a more mindful and emo-organized path. It would be great if a separate worksheet spiral book was also sold as making copies of the worksheets was a bit cumbersome, but that is my only very small gripe if you can even call it that. Thank you to the authors for explaining this!

I told myself I would buy it and not come back.

I moved and left a counselor behind who I really clicked with and helped improve my life. After bouncing through a few in my new city, I was frustrated with my current counselor when I saw this book on their shelf. I told myself I would buy it and not come back.

Horrible narration

the content is pretty good but is made nearly unusable by the narrator. the continuous monotone is made even more frustrating by the constant referencing. I understand it can be useful for some, but one the goal is to consume information it's solely a hindrance.

I can't wait to finish this book!

I was hesitant to start, I am not a book person and I already know a lot on the subject, however, a few pages in I already learned something new. If you can apply yourself to listening and living this book you will find great tips and examples on how to deal with distressing situations. I'm not even halfway through but I've recorded over 100 new coping skills I didn't have before. the book is interactive which is the most helpful part, asking you to be creative with how you care for yourself. ten out of ten, I can't wait to finish this book!

not what i expected, but worth it.

I felt that the first half of the book the writer was more concerned with providing evidence that DBT was not psuedo science and that it is actually 'legit' therapy. All the citations and references take you out of the listening experience. latter half of the book, you get in to the nuts and bolts of what and how it all works. I enjoyed it, but the the beginning show jump you right into the practice of it and latter get into the field studies.

I can do it alone and with my therapist.

I struggle with Borderline Personality Disorder as well as chronic pain, depression, anxiety, and a couple of other chronic health conditions. This has given me a lot of great tools in order to cope. It is very much a learning journey and I feel safe and empowered by this book. I can pick it up and put it down at any time. I can learn things in bite sizes. I can do it alone and with my therapist.

Clearest and concise explanation of DBT out there

Having been a DBT therapist for over 10 years, I have been waiting for this book! This book is the clearest and concise explanation of DBT out there and it is head and shoulders above Linehan's in terms of clarity and listenability. I will have all of the people I supervise get it too. Nicely done!

Among the books this is the most transparent

I am struggling to get some momentum going in therapy (as a "client"). I'm doing a lot better with actual emotion regulation, so I'm happy about that, but I'm frustrated with my slow movement toward mastery of the concepts. Among the books I've tried so far, this is the most comprehensive, terse, engaging, transparent.
