About this listen

Bennie Griessel may be losing his battle with alcohol, but he still knows enough to head up the police team tracking "Artemis", a vigilante killer who targets child murderers.

The killer is, in fact, Thobela Mpayipheli, a former freedom fighter robbed of everything by the murder of his son. And when Griessel's daughter is kidnapped, his world and Thobela's converge towards a devastating climax.

Critic reviews

"Complex, finely wrought characters, keen psychological insight and a compelling plot lift this crime novel from South African author Meyer." ( Publishers Weekly)

Really glad I chanced upon this author and narrator combination. It's a gripping story beautifully narrated in South African english with all the colourful prose and ballsy attitude of Cape Town - magic. I'll be listening to the rest of the series in sequence.

Brilliantly woven story with some well drawn characters. There are many twists and turns in this ever unfolding plot. A cracking read and Bennie Greissel is a great character

Top writer at the top of his game

Really, really enjoyed this book. Was slow to start but then i really got into it, could not stop listening until it was complete. Saul Reichlin is a brilliant narrator, i find myself searching his name first then checking out the novels,

Brilliant

I started listening to this book and I just couldn't even think of pausing it, though of course practicalities meant that I had to. Bennie is such a good character. Human and full of foibles and yet brave. Even Thobela had his redemptive features. The piece de resistance was the reading by Saul Reichlin who got all the accents just about right. Give it a try, you won't regret it!

Devil's Peak a really good listen!
