Before the now-infamous Count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night...and now he's back. History collides in present-day New York City. Summary
The greatest trick the First Vampire ever pulled was convincing the world that he didn’t exist.
If you enjoyed the Blade or Underworld movies, you will love the Shade of Devil series.
Before the now-infamous Count Dracula ever tasted his first drop of blood, Sorin Ambrogio owned the night. Humanity fearfully called him the Devil.
Cursed by the gods, Sorin spent centuries bathing Europe in oceans of blood with his best friends, Lucian and Nero, the world’s first Werewolf and Warlock - an unholy trinity if there ever was one. Until the three monsters grew weary of the carnage, choosing to leave it all behind and visit the brave New World across the ocean. As they befriended a Native American tribe, they quickly forgot that monsters can never escape their past.
But Dracula - Sorin’s spawn - was willing to do anything to erase Sorin’s name from the pages of history so that he could claim the title of the world’s first vampire all for himself. Dracula hunts him down and slaughters the natives, fatally wounding Sorin in the attack. Except a Shaman manages to secretly cast Sorin into a healing slumber.
For 500 years.
Until Sorin is awoken by a powerful Shaman in present-day New York City. In a world he doesn’t understand, Sorin wants only one thing - to kill Dracula and anyone else who stands in his path. When the descendant of an infamous vampire hunter steps into his life, Sorin is torn between conflicting feelings in his heart - revenge or love. But to a woman like Victoria Helsing, it might just be considered a bloody good date.
The streets of New York City will flow with rivers of blood, and the fate of the world rests in the hands of the Devil, Sorin Ambrogio.
Because this town isn’t big enough for the both of them.

A New take on an old genre
Rarely does a book take something as old and as familiar as the vampire myth and take it to a new level but a Devils Dream does just that and more. The author gives new life to old myths and legends and intertwines them with a modern twist that sets this book apart for the normal run of the mill vampire yarns. I have to take my hat off to the author and I simply can’t wait for the next instalment

average, but enjoyable.
there were a few too many coincidences for the story to flow properly. it worked, but the mc would go to a random place and meet someone important, or someone he knew hundreds of years ago, or was involved with what he was doing hundreds of years ago by complete accident. it's ok to have that, but it happens about 5 times. too often. felt like deus ex machina.

Shayne, you’ve done it again. Incredible.
Another amazing book by Shayne Silvers, and the narrator Charles Lawrence is a fantastic addition. If you enjoyed Shayne’s Templeverse book you will love this. Packed with adventure, intrigue and a health spattering of whit and comedy. I can’t wait for the next book to be available on audiobook.

Funny, fast and fabulous with a plot that bangs!
Just finished ‘Devil’s Dream’ and ….Wow!
As usual, brilliant characters. I love that the women aren’t sappy weaklings in constant need of protection from themselves and others. It’s a breath of fresh air!
The relationships are complex and as fun as ever. The plot leads you down what looks like a cul de sac and just as you think all might be lost your head whips sideways and you emerge onto a main road that could take you in so many different directions. The narrator is perfect too.
I can’t wait for book two!

“No homo”?!?!
Really loved this book and story. It was disappointing though to hear one of the male characters use the term “no homo” when not wanting the others to think he was gay. Is the author afraid of people thinking he is gay?

inconsistent but not a horrible experience.
can't see reflection, walk into an elevator full of mirrors no one bats an eye. Talk about thresholds and invitations but bam casually walk into someone's house without formal invite. not to mention being turned into a vampire in the time of the Oracle of delphi and curses the Greek panthion meaning ancient Greece but hell he gos to sleep in the 1500s and now the says a 500 year old vampire is technically older than the protag due to a short nap!!! He should have been at least 1500 before his nap I'm so confused with these timelines!!!!!.

HOWEVER I am very frustrated that the rest of the books aren't on Audible as of yet. Mr. Silvers PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make that happen as soon as possible. meanwhile I'll just have to read it the old fashioned way. lol. audiobooks have me spoiles.😟

Could not maintain my suspension of disbelief
I really tried to get interested in this book, but there was simply too much that kept pulling me away from enjoying it.
Spoilers ahead.
He’s the world’s most powerful vampire but can’t seem to win a fight by himself. He talks a good game, but can’t back it up.
He nods his head satisfactorily. A lot. This means that the manner in which he nods his head is satisfactory. Maybe it is grammatically correct, but every time I heard it I wanted to say, “No. He nodded his head in satisfaction!”
Really? He’s been asleep for half a millennia but has no problem communicating with people? He went to sleep a before Shakespeare was born, but picked up modern speech immediately? Methinks that doth seem unlikely.
I can handle having Mina Harker, Renfield, and Van Helsing’s daughter in the story. Kinda derivative, but whatever; you’ll have that in a book about Dracula.
But Dr. Frances “Frankie” Stein? Come on.
Drinking blood gives women multiple orgasms? And he “forgot” about that? And after giving a woman seven multiple orgasms in front of a room full of werewolves, he’s embarrassed because he’s got an erection, so he asks her to stay on his lap so no one notices?
The big fight scenes at the blood bank and at the necromancer’s place seemed to spend relatively little time actually fighting. And several more orgasms than most fight scenes. If I had to hear that he was weak after not eating for 500 years one more time, I was going to lose it.
Thirty-six hours to wake up from a 500 year sleep, make a new friend, learn about modern technology, become a drug-dealer, start a vampire army, get past a centuries-old war between vampires and werewolves, attend an auction, give a werewolf multiple orgasms, find the love of his life, give the love of his life multiple orgasms while fighting a building full of vampires, find the one random vampire in the entire world that knows what happened to his son, leisurely walk into the headquarters of the dreaded necromancer, defeat him and get the McGuffin. Seems a bit rushed.
The foreshadowing seemed a bit heavy-handed. After the second or third time we heard that he couldn’t drink too much blood without getting “blood drunk” and becoming an unstoppable killing machine, it seemed pretty obvious that he’d get blood drunk sooner or later.
And how could we have guessed that his friend Nero the warlock that no one had heard from in 500 years would turn out to be the unnamed necromancer?
It was just too much to allow me to really get into the story for very long.
