Summary

I lived and breathed "Happily Ever After", then it all came crashing down...

The day the love of my life went missing - presumed dead - my heart stopped beating too. Then Lincoln Zager comes along, and he's relentlessly determined to protect and revive me. He slowly thaws the numbness surrounding my heart, offering me a second chance at love. He's willing to fight me...for me.

But another man harbors a dangerous affection for me - an obsessed stalker. Like Lincoln, he also claims that he will never let me go.

Contains mature themes.

Spoiled by the awful English accent

The story line was very good , however the English accents performed were diabolical. Some of the words came out as poor attempts of an Irish or Scottish accent and was very off putting listening to the book!

not worth the credit or my time! 👎🏽👎🏽👎🏽

I didn't enjoy this book at all. First, the female narrator was horrible. her accents were all over the place and she read the story like something was about to harken, her voice sounded excited even during times when she should have expressed sadder emotions or humor. The story also had a lot if flashbacks and inner dialogue but quite honestly it was way too much and not sure if it was the way it was written or the narrators but it was hard to distinguish when the flashbacks and under dialogue began and stopped. very disappointed the only shining part of this story was the fact that the black character was not made to come off ghetto and ignorant like most books that have black characters do... so for that thank you

You Could Find Something Better

The female narrator’s British accent is quite off. The story started off great but it soon went into a direction that I wasn’t pleased with. Managed to get about halfway through before giving up completely.

overall story was well written

The overall story was well written. the author has talent. Sadly I cannot give this a higher rating for a few reasons.

1. Its dual pov but its the stalkers point of view instead of her love interest. if the love interest ever makes an appearance I have no idea because I had to DNF the book at chapter 13/14. I have had the stalkers point of view multiple times but not the guy she is banging at this point? I am not invested in the romance at all. when I am not rooting for the couple I lose interest. I have already bought another book to read instead.

2. the intimate scene between the fmc and her love interest was bit fetishizing of the black woman and made him a creeper to me. I wanted to vomit from his dirty talk.

3. the book moved way too slow. it was so long and drawn out. I thought it was almost over but then I had 7 hours more to go!? This suffered from saggy middle. the beginning was strong and then it just lost me.

4. I couldnt relate to the fmc and she kept being wishy washy. she didnt want to kiss or doing anything with a guy she is seeing for 3 weeks not because she was still missing Hosea but because she is not a whore. How is kissing and being intimate with your man as two consenting adults magically make you a whore? I am not okay with slut shaming.

5. I dont really care what happens next and okay with putting the book down and never picking it up again. thats a big sign for me and lets me know that this book was not for me. the author has skill. the characters are well developed. I am not just not invested in the story and the plot sags. too much filler.

I should have read it instead.

I really enjoyed this story. The sex scenes were okay. I did not like the female narrator. He voice came off whiney and it drove me crazy. I also had problems with her not changing her routines after finding out about the stalker. I loved Lincoln. He was the perfect alpha.

I had to return

I usually like Amarie Avant's work BUT I had to return this book. I just couldn't do it! The lady performer was horrible, she made the story really bad and the stalker narrator was coming off really good and it was creepy that I was sympathizing with him. The guy can perform. Maybe with better performance? Or maybe if I read it as a book instead of audible? I don't know... I didn't get too far but I wouldn't have given it the romance genre...

It wasn't a stalker thing, I listened to some with the same idea that were better...

Another review said the female narrator...

The other reviewer said the females narrator's "British" accent sounds like a mix between Irish and Australian but NOOOO She sounds like a old smoker from Jamaca or down south Louisiana. NOT BRITISH AT ALL. SHE IS THE WORST BRITISH ACCENT IVE EVER HEARD AND ABSOLUTELY RUINS THIS STORY. So I cannot even finish this train wreck. UGH! I knly made to chapter 3.

Could have been great

Plot was okay, the English Accent was more Irish, Infect it was all over the place. And again For some reason authors have to betray women as weak willed Humans.

Great

Wow, what a crazy, wild, and great story. I wish this book was a movie or TV show. It made me mad, laugh and sad. A.A. you wrote your butt off with this storyline. It had a great sexual storylines and the storyline of mental health was a good touch. The narrators were good.

For a moment I thought Josiah was going to turn into a craz stalker serial killer. I was like is she going to take the storyline that route. (lol)

I hated when the story was over, because I liked the crazy. After this book I need a breather and then I need another one of these types of books from you A.A. (lol)
