About this listen

Meet Zoe Finch, West MIdlands Police's newest detective inspector. She's outspoken, ambitious, and damaged. And she's working a case that could make her career, or cost her everything....

Fresh from the success of the Canary investigation into depravity and corruption at the highest levels, Zoe has attracted attention. Not least from Assistant Chief Constable Bryn Jackson.

But when Jackson is brutally murdered on the night of his retirement party, Zoe is dragged into a case that's deeply personal.

All the evidence points to the victim's downtrodden wife, who has secrets of her own.

But Zoe begins to suspect all isn't as it seems. Could Jackson's death be linked to the Canary case? And what is her new boss, DCI David Randle, hiding?

Seeking out the truth will force Zoe to confront her own past and put not just her career, but her team's lives on the line.

Listen to Zoe Finch's first three cases: Deadly Wishes, Deadly Choices and Deadly Desires. A gritty crime series perfect for fans of Angela Marsons, Caroline Mitchell, and the BBC's Line of Duty.

Despite the irritating tendency to not phone or not pick up the phone at critical moments this was a great box set. Characters that filled the spectrum of likeable to detestable and everywhere in between.

Absorbing

Enjoyed the first two books. Crime stories that were easy to follow and engaged without too much shock/horror. The third book took a turn for the gory. Pretty horrific story theme but not as gory as some US written books I’ve read. Feel the end section was obvious but not terrible. These first 3 books are mostly light, easy to listen to. Not much emotional investment. Good books for the car, if adults only driving.

Easy listening, mostly..

The narrator spoke too quickly when it got exciting (or she thought it was exciting). The subject matter was awful.

A bit gruesome

The story is gripping, imaginative and classic police style without having everything explained.

I couldn't get on with the narration; the narrative was spoken with too much emphasis that it was hard to keep up with, and dialog spoken too quickly with unfortunate questionable accents.

Great story, poor narration.
