Story
Handsome, charismatic, and blessed with a voice that brings thousands of fans to their knees, Trent Donovan is a walking cliché. But he has another thing coming if he thinks he can charm his way into my panties. I don’t care if he’s rich and famous because I’m not here to bag a rock star. I’m here to pave my own way. To prove I belong center stage. There’s just one problem. The more time I spend on the road with the band, the more I realize Trent’s nothing like the arrogant playboy I expected. We share a love of music, and if I’m honest so much more.

She's innocent, inexperienced, virginal, and completely out of place. Now it's my personal mission to change all of that. Sure, I'm also on this tour to play drums. A bit of blackmail got me the gig and out from under my parents' control. All I've ever wanted to is to live the rock star life, so I'm willing to do whatever it takes. Doesn't matter who gets hurt, as long as I get mine. At least that's how it started. This girl, she's gotten under my skin. Makes me want to be a better man. Has me dreaming of more than a life on the road.

Story
The first time I met Hudson Rothschild was at a wedding. I’d received an unexpected invitation to one of the swankiest venues in the city. Hudson was a groomsman and quite possibly the most gorgeous man I’d ever laid eyes on. He asked me to dance, and our chemistry was off the charts. I knew it wasn’t a good idea to get involved with him, considering the wedding I was at. But our connection was intense, and I was having a great time. Though the fun came to a screeching halt when Hudson figured out I wasn’t who I’d said I was.

I didn't mean to star in a sex tape, okay? It was just one of those unexplainable things. Like Stonehenge, Police Academy 2, and morning glory clouds. It just happened. Now, my ball-busting father is sentencing me to six months of celibacy, sobriety, and morbid boredom under the roof of Boston's nerdiest girl alive, Sailor Brennan. The virginal archer is supposed to babysit my ass while I learn to take my place in Royal Pipelines, my family's oil company. Little does she know, that's not the only pipe I'll be laying....

Story
If people have polar opposites, Luca Rossi is mine. His butt is in the baseball hall of fame. Mine's comfortably seated in the hall of lame. When he's not snagging fly balls out in center field, he's modeling in shampoo commercials. I once jammed my own finger while stirring cookie dough, and sometimes I forget shampoo is a thing. He's a total cynic when it comes to love. I make a living writing love stories. But after my latest broken engagement (no, I don't want to talk about how many times that's happened), it's clear he's exactly the man I need.

In the morning, she was gone and had taken my solace with her. I left for the military that day, vowing never to return to Pennsylvania. When my father dies, I’m forced to go home to bury him. At least I'll finally be rid of his farm, which is grown over and tangled with memories I've fought to forget. And that’s when I find her. She’s even more beautiful than I remember and has the most adorable kid I’ve ever seen. Years have passed, but my feelings are the same, and this time I refuse to let her go. My love story all started with a letter. Only it wasn’t from the man I’d eventually fall in love with. It was from his daughter. A sweet little girl named Birdie Maxwell who’d written to the magazine that I worked for. You see, once a year my employer fulfilled a few wishes for readers. Only that column didn’t start up again for months. So I fulfilled some of her wishes myself. It was harmless…so I thought. Until one day I took things too far. While anonymously granting yet another of Birdie’s wishes, I got a look at her father.

Summary
Don't fall in love with your bandmate's girl.
It's an unspoken rule, and one I'm determined to follow. I've always been the guy to take the high road, to be the voice of reason, but when it comes to Jess, I'm tired of fighting this overwhelming attraction.
The more time we spend together, the more compelled I am to show her she's worthy of love and dreams of her own. The lines of my moral compass begin to blur. I should leave her alone, but I can't. I know it's wrong, but everything about us feels so right.
Despite everything I try, it doesn't change the truth. She's not mine.
I can't sit back and watch her love someone else. But if given the choice, will she even want me?

Amazing book with a fantastic narration team
This is a beautifully emotional book. Sean is the perfect hero- sweet and respectful while still just that cool rocker. Jess starts off as the girlfriend of the new drummer who treats her awfully. She has a horrible past that brings tears to my eyes. Note that there is a bit of a triangle in this book, if that is an issue which it usually is for me but Kacey Shea does an amazing job weaving a sympathetic story that really just tugs at my heart strings. I loved how the story progressed; it was flawlessly written to evoke a lot of emotion. I borrowed the book through KU but received an early copy of audiobook. Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder are amazing. Emma Wilder has such a perfect sweet voice with a lot of emotion. And Jason Clarke? He is flawless with his slightly gravelly voice and wonderful emotions. The audiobook just elevated this fantastic story.

⭐⭐⭐⭐
Derail is book two of the Off Track Records series. Compared to the first book, Detour, this one has so much more angst. Beautifully written, it deals with some sensitive subjects- cheating, domestic violence, and substance use. Jess's lack of confidence and low self-esteem was understandable, given her background, but having to listen to her inner thoughts on it over and over eventually became annoying. The obstacles that she and Sean went through were at times also difficult to listen to, but was all worth it in the end. Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder's performance as Sean and Jess were flawless. Derail is a contemporary rock star romance written in dual first-person POV and recorded in dual narration. It's a standalone that ends with an HEA and deals with sensitive subjects some may find triggering. No cliffhanger. I received this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

So easy to get lost in this book!
Book two in Kacey Shea’s Off the Tracks series is so good, you do not want to miss it! This book has everything, bringing ever emotion to the surface and letting us feel it. Jess comes to the band with her boyfriend, Coy, the new drummer to the group. Sean, the bassist feels an immediate attraction to her. But you just can’t fall for one of your bandmate’s girls, can you? So many issues are brought out in this one, from cheating to abuse, and it’s dealt with compassion and care. I love Jess. She is stronger than she thinks and her path to finding her confidence is so rewarding. I was rooting for her the entire time, not just to find true love, but to reach her potential. The chemistry of the band is something I enjoy as well. The family feel, including Lexi and Deb gives heartwarming love. The slow burning romance just was the icing on the cake for me, with all the other problems that were going on. And I think my favorite part was Hansen…mmmbop! Shea has pushed all the right buttons, and even with a happy ending, has left me wanting more from the band! Bring on book 3! Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder are cast perfectly for this story. Clarke can fall into a part, and he becomes the character. Sean is complex, and Clarke finds all the nuances of his personality. Wilder falls into Jess, and makes her real and so easy to love. This story and narrative is emotional, breaks our hearts and puts the pieces back together. Shea, Clarke and Wilder bring it all to us.

Derail is a must read!!
Derail is Sean's story and what a story it is! When 3 Ugly Guys need a new drummer, this is where we meet Coy and his girlfriend Jess. When Sean first sets his eyes on Jess in Off Track Records waiting room there is an undeniable pull and instant spark between them. But unbeknown to Sean the girl he cant keep his eyes off of is 3UG new drummer's girl and is going to be living in the room next to his. Over the next couple of weeks Sean lives for his morning chats with Jess and does anything to try and get some time with her away from the guys. As the story goes on we see what a horrible person Coy is and how much he holds Jess' past over her and how he uses it against her which understandably rubs Sean the wrong way and we get to see how unbelievably strong Jess is even if she doesn't think so. Can Sean and Jess be able to show their feelings to one another without the world around them coming crashing down or will 3UG have a permanent drummer but a broken hearted bass player... Listen to Derail now to find out! I loved Derail, I did when I read it when it first come out but Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder done an amazing job of bringing Sean and Jess to life. I received an Arc of Derail and I am voluntarily leaving my review.

A Heart Melting Story...
I found myself going through a spectrum of emotions listening to Jess and Sean's story. Having never been in Jess' shoes I found myself thinking, "sort it out Jess" at the start and then berating myself for my lack of empathy. But Jess sure showed her strength! This is an audio you will not be able to stop so be prepared to ignore the rest of the world for the full duration ;) Narrators Jason Clark and Emma Wilder were faultless! Thank you for being the key to this audio treasure!

I usually hate any kind of cheating plot line but Koi was such a jerk that I was begging Jess to give him the heave ho and move in with Sean! Jess had a lot of personal experiences and growth to go through and Sean, the hot and kind rock star, was the perfect match!

Heartbreaking & beautiful performance
I don't even know where to start with this review. It's been a long time since I’ve been this invested in a story. I'm talking shouting at the audio, threatening characters lives, crying. The full works. My husband was very concerned. This book made me feel so much and it was unexpected. I wanted to throw my phone at so many moments. Kacey’s writing is so captivating and although this book involves a difficult subject, it is written with so much sensitivity and understanding that it as beautiful to listen to, even if I did need to hit pause a few times to just deal with the emotions I was experiencing. Jess has been beaten down so much in her life that she truly believes she deserves whatever happens to her. It isn't until she meets Sean, a man that treats her with kindness and respect, that she starts to see things differently. I adored her journey to the person she was born to be. Sean may have helped open her eyes, but she's the one that did the work. Sean is all the things. His capacity for care and kindness is just everything. I loved how gentle he was with Jess. Always wanting what is best for her, even if it wasn't him. Together they were just perfect. I loved the dynamic between them. The chemistry and tension was palpable. The band drove me crazy with their don't get involved policy but thank heavens for Deb. Who is not only the sweetest band mum ever but a wonderful person. Jason Clarke was perfect as Sean and conveyed the emotions well like always. But Emma Wilder stole the show. Emma as Jess was outstanding. I've listened to Emma before, and she's always a hit, but this book, her performance blew me away. The way she conveyed the raw emotion and experience of the character was both beautiful and heartbreaking. Both Emma and Jason have fabulous opposite gender voices and it makes for an all-encompassing listen as you don't get taken out of the story or the performance with the switch. Their voices complement each other well and the transition from one to the other and from each character was smooth. The production was great with no issues.

My first Kacey Shea book
I love the variety of characters. Jason Clarke does an amazing job of voicing them each so distinctly. The storyline is enjoyable and well written. It held my attention the whole time. I thought Sean was a little TOO dead-on intuitive. He suspects something is off about Coy when they first meet, but absolutely nothing Coy said gives that hint. Things like that happen several times, making it hard for me to understand how he's picking up on things. Jess has extremely negative self-talk. A lot. Too much. I think it comes off too strong, when about 50% would have made the point fully. It makes me not like her at all, and with a heroine I think she has to have *some* spine, not just the strength she gets from the Hero. I'm glad to see her fairy tale HEA too! This book is part of a series but I had not read the first book and had no problems with the history of the band. This was my first Kacey Shea book, and I look forward to reading more by her! Thank you to the author for providing me with an audio copy in exchange for an honest review.

This story will not derail you
Book 2 in the series. This story is about Sean . The bassist in the rock group . The group gets a wake up call when Izzy passes out at the Grammies . Sean is my new favorite book boyfriend............
Derail is the second book in this series by Kacey Shea featuring a highly successful rock band called 3 Ugly Guys. I highly recommend reading the first book in the series to get the full flavor of the band's history and relationships, but this second book can easily be enjoyed as a standalone. As with all of Kacey Shea's novels, this book will rip out your heart and stomp on it, but then it will uplift your spirit to the point of joy by the end. If you like a roller coaster of emotions, Derail has them all. Unlike many books in the rock star genre, I think this series does a good job of portraying the more difficult side of stardom. Also unlike most heroes in this genre, Sean is a genuinely kind and down-to-earth guy from the very beginning. He is into fitness and good health, and he isn't interested in meaningless sex with band groupies and hangers on. He is someone that I would really like as a friend, but that doesn't make him any less sexy to both readers and the heroine of the story, Jess. I must admit that I struggled in the beginning with Jess because allowing someone to treat me the way she let her boyfriend treat her seemed unthinkable, even though I know it happens all the time. However, as the story progressed, and I learned more about her history and character, I started to fight for her happily-ever-after right along with Sean. I can't imagine a better person for Jess than Sean, and I loved watching her bloom under his continuous love and respect. Although the book deals with a lot of heavy subjects, there are plenty of funny and steamy interactions as well, especially when the band mates start their shenanigans. I can't imagine any listener with a dry eye after hearing the epilogue, and I am already salivating for the next book in the series. Although I find it difficult to improve on a Kacey Shea story, the narrating team of Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder succeed in making this story even better. I read the book previous to listening, and the experience of Clarke's deep, sexy voice, and Wilder's gentle, almost lilting voice made the the story seem brand new. These two have an amazing chemistry together, and I could literally feel the emotions coming out of my iPod. Both delivery a flawless performance, and the sound quality is amazing. Overall, I highly recommend this audiobook for any romance lover, even those that have previously read the book. I received a copy of this audiobook in exchange for this honest review.

Beautiful Story!
Wow! I fell completely in love with Derail which is the second book in the Off Track Records series. Kacey Shea’s writing is absolutely fantastic and she nailed it again with the story of Sean and Jess. Some of the characters face real life issues that take you on a roller coaster of emotions and it is worth the ride! I was so captivated and just moved by these characters. Just like the first book Detour in this series, I highly recommend Derail! This one truly has you wanting more and more! I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by Jason Clarke and Emma Wilder, both did an outstanding performance voicing Sean and Jess! This has become another favorite!

Emotional and brilliant performance!
Hi! I am Kacey Shea, the author of Derail. I'm so happy to bring this and the rest of my Off Track Records novels to audio. Jason Clarke has such range and his ability to create distinctive character voices and maintain them throughout blows me away. He takes on Sean's character with such heart and is the perfect compliment to the female POV chapters. Emma Wilder steals the show with her gutting performance. She portrayed Jess's vulnerability, brokenness, and in the end strength and growth. My heart was racing at the intensity of it all and I am so grateful she took on this project! If you love an emotional, gripping love story and outstanding narration, then I think you're going to enjoy this book.

Beautiful & Emotionally Moving
What an amazing book. This well written read has a beautiful, emotionally moving story line. The characters are complex and engaging. Jess is such an amazing character and her story is sure to break your heart. Sean is a genuinely great guy that will have you feeling super swoony. Together these two create a couple that is perfect for each other, impossible not to fall in love with and make you wish with your whole heart for a HEA for them. This book does deal with hard issues and sensitive subjects and as such, just as is the case in real life things are very rarely simply black or white, but many shades of gray. Sometimes painful, sometimes poignant, sometimes sweet and sometimes heart melting, one thing I know for sure, this is a book that will leave a permanent mark on your heart. This book offers dual narration and the narrators truly hit it out of the park with this one. I thought the voices were a perfect match for the characters and this just helped take this audio book to the next level.

LOVE
Kacey Shea pens another masterpiece brought to life with outstanding narration. I will admit. After Detour I knew Derail would be one a top favorite of the series. I am a sucker for forbidden love, white knights, and a girl that needs to be rescued, but finds a backbone along the way. This book checks all of the boxes. I have no words for the narration, Speechless. If I didn't think this book could get any better, just bring in two of my favorites to bring it to life. I was obsessed with this series when I read it, but listening to it brings on a whole new stalkerish level of obsessed. 10 hours and 40 mins of pure bliss.

3UG are at it again, heartwrenching tale of love
*ARC provided by author in exchange for an honest review* I honestly don't even know where to begin with this book. I guess I'll start with the basics...this is the 2nd book in the Off the Track Records Series. While it is good to read the first book you don't have to in order to get into this book. The story is a standalone. Narration was amazing and brought each character's storyline to life. I could imagine the scenes playing out in front of me while listening. This storyline does have a HEA but it is hard to listen to at times. Jess and Sean's love story is not a quick one and I love that they have to work for it. Yes there were times that I wanted to throw my phone as I was frustrated but it made it all the better for their story in the end. The story was so well written and the character development was done so well. The reason's for Jess's struggles were so well discussed and her point of view explained. I loved that the author didn't shy away from the hard parts of the story and talked about them. They may be hard to talk about and listen to but they are very real and listening to them play out and Jess's emotions about them are heartbreaking and liberating at the same time. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for book 3 in the series!

🔥CREDIT WORTHY & THEN SOME!🔥
Kacey Shea continues to slay the rockstar romance trope with Derail. Captivating, achingly heartfelt, and completely passionate are just some of the things that make Sean and Jess’ story beyond fantastic and unmissable. As if that wasn’t enough you have the two all-star narrators beginning the story to life. Emma Wilder and Jason Clarke are exceptional as Jess and Sean. They bring every facet of these complex and flawed characters to life along with every single emotion. So much so that I felt right along with these characters. Credit worthy and then some! 5 stars.

Another amazing listen!
Another winner from Kacey Shea, made even better by the perfect narration of Jason and Emma! You know it’s good when you can’t help but make a face when a character’s name is spoken, let alone appear. Jason brings Sean to life with his deep voice that lends itself to Sean’s broodiness while Emma captures Jess’s personality with her voice alone. I can’t wait for the next Off Track Records book!

Woohoo...3UG y’all!!!
This book gives you the story of Three Ugly Guys bassist Sean Willis and how he falls for a woman who’s already taken. Jessica Moore has really low self esteem and puts up with her mostly verbally abusive bf, Coy. They moved from Denver to LA so that Coy can fulfill his dream of becoming the drummer for a band. Coy hits it big time by getting a temporary gig with 3UG while the drummer is in rehab. The chemistry between Sean and Jess is palpable from the moment they meet but she’s taken. I must admit that the verbal abuse was a bit difficult for me to read/listen to and I did have to take breaks. That said, this is a great story that addresses various types of abuse. Well written and narrated. Can’t wait for the next book! I accepted a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review

Loved!
As much as I loved the first book in this series, I didn't think this one could possible surpass it. I was wrong. This one had some really heavy topics that I thought were handled very well by the author. I love this series and can't wait for more. Fantastic narration, as well!
