Sun Sï Mo war schon in früher Jugend in aller Weisheit wohl bewandert. Lange hielt er sich im Gebirge versteckt. Erst als der Kaiser Tai Dsung das Tanghaus begründete, kam er hervor. Der Kaiser wollte ihm ein Amt geben; er aber lehnte ab und war als Arzt den Menschen hilfreich.
