Summary

Introducing policeman Glenn Branson....

When actress Gloria Lamark takes her own life, her devoted son, Thomas, is heart-broken. Something must be wrong with a world in which such a tragedy is allowed to happen. How could her high-profile, media-star psychiatrist have failed to save such a special person, whom Thomas loved in such a very special way? Dr Tennent has a lesson to learn - a very painful one.

Michael Tennent is caught up in the first flush of love - but has no idea how dangerous romance can be. For both Michael and Thomas will do anything for the women they love....

Brilliant.

Gripping tale. Just wanted to keep on listening. I avidly read the Inspector Grace series and have read the other Peter James books audible offers. In the later group this is one of the best -on par with The Alchemist and Absolute Proof. Very detailed plot- best to listen with care and read in quite long session to grasp the twists and inferences made throughout the the story . This starts as a tail of revenge- but us it?
Quite interesting also to read about Peter James- himself

Absolutely Brilliant

just loved this book couldn't stop listening, had a lot of late nights Peter James is such a brilliant author wasn't keen on Leighton Pugh voice but after a while it got better, still think it would have been better if the narrator was different.

Just a bit too long

Great story, well narrated and full of life until the last few hours of listening. Endings should not be expanded unless they enhance the story and this one could have been concluded so much sooner. I guessed the outcome but it was far too drawn out and I struggled to listen through those last few hours. Come on Mr James - 10 hours would have been more than enough!

Perseverance

A grim rather overlong story, with too many unpleasant lengthy descriptions of incidents and dreams.

Terrible narration!

The narrator made this book a nightmare to listen to. All of the characters faded into one monotone speech. I listened for over two and a half hours in the hope it would get at least a little interesting but I just got bored beyond belief. Peter James is a great storyteller but this version does him a great injustice

What a Thriller should be

Peter James writes super thrillers, some better than others. This one - a really good one - took me through the wee hours of the morning without falling asleep. The narrator was excellent and assisted with it's delivery excellently. Thoroughly recommend.

Ten chapters in and I returned.

I was 10 chapters in and returned. So disappointing since I usually love James and have read all his Roy Grace series. This is just a silly story and not helped at all by a really lame, melodramatic narration. The delivery was often unintentionally funny.
