Summary

Malkom Slaine: tormented by his sordid past and racked by vampiric hungers, he’s pushed to the brink by the green-eyed beauty under his guard.

Carrow Graie: hiding her own sorrows, she lives only for the next party or prank. Until she meets a tortured warrior worth saving.

In order for Malkom and Carrow to survive, he must unleash both the demon and vampire inside him. When Malkom becomes the nightmare his own people feared, will he lose the woman he craves body and soul?

Such a tortured soul

How does Kresley Cole get me so connected to fictional characters?! Love all of them in this book. And the narrator continues to do amazing voices, accents, drama, steamy scenes, comedy…

Kresley Cole never lets us down...

Would you consider the audio edition of Demon from the Dark to be better than the print version?

no

What was one of the most memorable moments of Demon from the Dark?

When the demon grips and spreads his hands in anticipation - like a kid in a sweet shop

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

meh

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

always action packed and exciting

Any additional comments?

Robert Petkoff's mispronunciation is annoying; but still, could not ruin the story

My favourite IAD book of the series.

What can I say about Malkolm Slaine, the tormented hero of the story. I loved him. He melted my heart from the get go. Carrow, the heroine was an equally fantastic lovable character. Their story was beautiful and has become my favourite of the series. The humour was as always, brilliant. I laughed my head off. I also cried for the first time in this series. I re listened to it immediately upon finishing it, it was that good.

As always, Robert Petkoff was outstanding. His narration is so perfect for this series it's crazy. He literally lives the story. Amazing narrator.

Robert Petkoff you are a candy for the ears!
Amazing narration....drives you to follow the narrator rather than the author...

A new favourite

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would to friends who like this gendre for sure. It is dark, sexy and well written

What other book might you compare Demon from the Dark to, and why?

I do like the whole series, but somehow the witches are amongst the favourite characters. So, if you liked Cole's Wicket deeds on Winter's Night, you will love this one.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All Cole's books he has done. He is the perfect narrator. His female characters are not annoying (as sometimes is the case with male narrators). I do admit to a bit of crush on his voice as many others do I noticed :-D

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Hottest action on this plain plane - of course!

Any additional comments?

This is another favourite from the series for me. While I like them all so far, I have been waiting for this one for a while. I got it as book when it came out straight away, but with RP narrating I couldn't but get it as audio as well. There is not a boring moment in the book. More than worth the credit.

Never thought I would be someone who has both the book and audiobook version of the same story

However when the fantastic Robert Petkoff is reading it, it brings a whole new level of enjoyment to the experience. This is one of my favourite IAD novels. I love the pairing of Carrow and Malkom. Robert’s excellent performance allowed me to enjoy the story in another way.

Poignant Passion

What made the experience of listening to Demon from the Dark the most enjoyable?

It made me feel that love can arrive at any time and in the most unexpected ways

Who was your favorite character and why?

Malkom Slaine...he was such a tortured soul, that it was a joy to watch him open up his heart to love.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

He is the master of voices - I love his deep vampire ones and he does an amazingly believable job with females.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

They were brought together by deception, but found the healing power of love

Any additional comments?

Pretty much listened to this in one go - did not leave my house all weekend.

For Kresley Cole fans - A Winner!

Would you listen to Demon from the Dark again? Why?

I would certainly listen to Demon from the Dark again. These books are an easy listen, the storeys are not rocket sience they are, boy meets girl with some unusual and interestig twists. Although the plot of each book is basically the same, they hold your interest because of the huge variety of characters and KC's skill in making them strong, exciting, vulnerable, interesting characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Malkom was my favourite character. He is a tortured sole, abused as a boy and betrayed as an adult, you can't help but want to make it all better for him. Of course the fact that he's described throughout the book as an Adonis certainly helps! (Perhaps I should mention, these are not M&B romances, some of the love scenes are quite graphically described).

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to a number of Robert Petkoff's performances and I think he has the perfect voice for these books. He has a smooth manly voice for the male characters but is able to lighten it, without it sounding silly, for the female characters. A good choice!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Had I the time I would have listened to it in one sitting, it's definitely a page turner.

Any additional comments?

It may seem an obvious statement but if you haven't read the Immortals After Dark series, I would start with the first book, as some of the storey lines refer back to previous books. The prequel to book one, is a novella, The Warlord Wants Forever, after reading that, I was hooked!
