Poignant Passion

What made the experience of listening to Demon from the Dark the most enjoyable?

It made me feel that love can arrive at any time and in the most unexpected ways

Who was your favorite character and why?

Malkom Slaine...he was such a tortured soul, that it was a joy to watch him open up his heart to love.

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

He is the master of voices - I love his deep vampire ones and he does an amazingly believable job with females.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

They were brought together by deception, but found the healing power of love

Any additional comments?

Pretty much listened to this in one go - did not leave my house all weekend.

For Kresley Cole fans - A Winner!

Would you listen to Demon from the Dark again? Why?

I would certainly listen to Demon from the Dark again. These books are an easy listen, the storeys are not rocket sience they are, boy meets girl with some unusual and interestig twists. Although the plot of each book is basically the same, they hold your interest because of the huge variety of characters and KC's skill in making them strong, exciting, vulnerable, interesting characters.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Malkom was my favourite character. He is a tortured sole, abused as a boy and betrayed as an adult, you can't help but want to make it all better for him. Of course the fact that he's described throughout the book as an Adonis certainly helps! (Perhaps I should mention, these are not M&B romances, some of the love scenes are quite graphically described).

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have listened to a number of Robert Petkoff's performances and I think he has the perfect voice for these books. He has a smooth manly voice for the male characters but is able to lighten it, without it sounding silly, for the female characters. A good choice!

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Had I the time I would have listened to it in one sitting, it's definitely a page turner.

Any additional comments?

It may seem an obvious statement but if you haven't read the Immortals After Dark series, I would start with the first book, as some of the storey lines refer back to previous books. The prequel to book one, is a novella, The Warlord Wants Forever, after reading that, I was hooked!

Never thought I would be someone who has both the book and audiobook version of the same story

However when the fantastic Robert Petkoff is reading it, it brings a whole new level of enjoyment to the experience. This is one of my favourite IAD novels. I love the pairing of Carrow and Malkom. Robert’s excellent performance allowed me to enjoy the story in another way.

My favourite IAD book of the series.

What can I say about Malkolm Slaine, the tormented hero of the story. I loved him. He melted my heart from the get go. Carrow, the heroine was an equally fantastic lovable character. Their story was beautiful and has become my favourite of the series. The humour was as always, brilliant. I laughed my head off. I also cried for the first time in this series. I re listened to it immediately upon finishing it, it was that good.

As always, Robert Petkoff was outstanding. His narration is so perfect for this series it's crazy. He literally lives the story. Amazing narrator.

Kresley Cole never lets us down...

Would you consider the audio edition of Demon from the Dark to be better than the print version?

no

What was one of the most memorable moments of Demon from the Dark?

When the demon grips and spreads his hands in anticipation - like a kid in a sweet shop

What about Robert Petkoff’s performance did you like?

meh

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

always action packed and exciting

Any additional comments?

Robert Petkoff's mispronunciation is annoying; but still, could not ruin the story

A new favourite

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would to friends who like this gendre for sure. It is dark, sexy and well written

What other book might you compare Demon from the Dark to, and why?

I do like the whole series, but somehow the witches are amongst the favourite characters. So, if you liked Cole's Wicket deeds on Winter's Night, you will love this one.

Have you listened to any of Robert Petkoff’s other performances? How does this one compare?

All Cole's books he has done. He is the perfect narrator. His female characters are not annoying (as sometimes is the case with male narrators). I do admit to a bit of crush on his voice as many others do I noticed :-D

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Hottest action on this plain plane - of course!

Any additional comments?

This is another favourite from the series for me. While I like them all so far, I have been waiting for this one for a while. I got it as book when it came out straight away, but with RP narrating I couldn't but get it as audio as well. There is not a boring moment in the book. More than worth the credit.

I can see myself listening to it again, and again.

I’ve been on the hunt for more Lykae ever since Lachlain MacRieve, although I must admit that Kresley Cole’s vampires, demons, Valkyrie and witches have tested my loyalties a few times. This latest installment sure did push me to my limits, and Malkom was primarily to blame for that. His wounds were so fresh that I could smell the blood, and all I wanted to do was to play nurse, and kiss all of his ouchies. Plus, he’s a Vemon, and who doesn’t love two hunky supes for the price of one!? #AmIRight.

Every so often a paranormal couple will strike a chord with me, and Malkom & Carrow did just that. Both of them wore their emotions on their sleeves, and that was further amplified by this author’s stand-out writing style. The lead couple’s thoughts, and feelings radiated from the pages of this book, and I loved how they got from A to HEA, and everything in the middle. The chemistry between these two, even with a language barrier, was unbelievable.

The story meshed well with the main arc, and it’s been a while since Cole worked in a new type of paranormal, so that was gravy. There were some laugh-out-loud moments which was unexpected given that a good sized chunk of this novel takes place in Hell, and given the long list of crap that Malkom’s suffered through. Carrow fully discovered her power thanks to Slaine, and he found happiness, so that was some nice karma.

Robert Petkoff didn’t really need to do much to make this audiobook a 5-star listen; however his tantalizing accents, ability to let loose for any scene regardless of its nature, and just his knack for all things IMMORTALS AFTER DARK in general. Malkom’s vulnerability and Carrow’s devotion to Ruby came through loud and clear, and speaking of the seven year old witch, Petkoff can even narrate kids impeccably.

DEMON FROM THE DARK is definitely a book that I can see myself listening to again, and again.

Kresley Cole Does It Again!

Kresley Cole has written a 5 star book, again! Robert Petkoff is the voice of Demon from the Dark! Oh who am I kidding, Robert Petkoff is the best! His Scottish Accent, well, I could listen to him reading the newspaper or a cereal box. That's how good Mr. Petkoff is! Audible I want more of Kresley Cole's Demons and Robert Petkoff's voice. :)

Beauty & the Beast- IAD Style

Thank you Robert Petkoff for nailing the narration and keeping me listening even when I have other things to do. This series has become a Top 5 series for me. WOW. I would have never believed it as i could barely finish the first couple of books in this series.

In this series, we meet demon Malkom Slaine who has been dealt a pretty crappy hand by life. He doesn't know his father and his mother was whore who sold to to be a blood whore to vampires when he was a little boy. He has been used and abused all his life until he met his best friend Kallen, the King. Kallen gave Malkom a sense of belonging and a mission until they were betrayed and taken by vampires. Malkolm swore revenge on all those who held him captive and those betrayed him.

Carrow Graie, a witch, was sent to retrieve Malkolm by the human Order that kidnapped her, in exchange for his adoptee Ruby. Carrow has also had a crappy family life as she never really mattered to her parents. they treated her like she was invisible so now she has been living a life starved for love. When these two came in contact, Malkolm's heart started beating--she was his mate. Carrow knew Malkolm would help her, but could she betray him and return him into captivity? Would Malkolm forgive her betrayal?

this was like a beauty and the beast story because Malkolm started off as a beast...a sweet, but angry and protective beast. I find the stories where Kresley Cole gives us lykae and demons are just the best. They are sweet, funny, sad, high in action and just weaved together well.

Malkolm has been added to my list of favorite Heroes and has Carrow. They made a really sweet pair. I can't wait to read the next one in this series

New To Audible, not a new release (Spoilers)

Would you listen to Demon from the Dark again? Why?

Yes, Because the story keeps my attention and the narrator does a great job creating the characters they way they were written.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Since I love the whole series it's hard to pick just one character since most of them have some roll or another to play in each book. If I had to choose just one from this story it would have to be Carro over Slain because the character although having her own sad issues didn't succumb to a victim mentality.

Which scene was your favorite?

The one where Slain finally gets a clue and goes to the cabin to see Carro and Ruby are packing up to leave. The emotion Slain goes through when he thinks they're leaving him serves him right even if he's wrong.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Ruby getting separated from Carro in the cave, and Carro getting Slain to help as well as his shock and astonishment of Carro's devotion to the girl.

Any additional comments?

I read this book so long ago that when it was billed as a new release I got excited and downloaded it. Normally I hate it when that happens but I loved the story enough that hearing it this time was like the first time all over. There's a difference in the terms New Release and New to Audible. If there's a way to tell the difference with out having to look in my nook or audible libraries first I'd love to know it.

Any additional comments?

Great author, great book, great narrator! KC has created such an amazing world in IAD. Each character is unique and intriguing. My favorite part are the strong females and the alpha males of course. There couldn't be a more amazingly perfect narrator for this series. I love his cadence and the accents. One of my favorites!!

PHEWEE FLAWLESS..... SIMPLY FLAWLESS

I want to thank Ms Cole for her gifted imagination, her many hours of work, her thought filled days, maybe sleepless nights conjuring up this exciting, riveting and emotional adventure and say that every lost hour, every minute and every second was so worth it as you've brought yet another spellbinding addition to the Immortals After Dark series. I don't mind my bloodshot eyes or my fatigue because you gave me a listen that I just couldn't, and wouldn't, break from until my bedroom grew light and the birds began to welcome a new day.

You gave me a proud but lonely, tortured and tormented Demon that I sympathised with, cherished and hoped he got his much deserved HEA, a Witch that first betrayed him but was loyal and loving in the end and a suspense filled plot that was filled with action, heartache, passion, drama, witty dialogue, snappy one-liners and humor, sizzling sexual chemistry, hot sex and paranormal beings that were gruesome, bloodthirsty, gifted, weird and wonderful. Then you teamed all that with the much loved characters from previous books and added new ones that thrilled, chilled and totally entertained me.

The final cherry on top was to have it read by the Maestro himself as Robert Petkoff's many accents enriched an already bulging story and breathed life and soul into it's many characters.

Worth a credit? It would be a definite thumbs up YES but this was under $10 so I bought it, saving my credit for another time.
